Question on travel with PC

I read a lot of guys travel to different parts of the world to get treatment done, or just travel for vacation, how do you get insurance. l am in Canada and when l wanted to travel to the US in 2019 my local Insurance Co. asked the usual health questions and l told them l had Pc and then l was asked if l was on treatment or had been in the last 12 months l answered truthfully at the time that l wasn't and they refused me insurance. l asked why and they said Pc is classed the same as Breast Cancer ( well we know both are hormonal so)? but they just wouldn't insure me? I was confused but that is the only answer they could give me. Maybe in the US travel insurance is clased differently. Anyone on this site in Canada had the same situation arise. Tganks

My husband has Stage IV prostate cancer but we are still able to buy travel insurance. If you buy insurance within a certain timeframe (usually 2 weeks or less) after your first payment for a trip then most travel insurance companies cover preexisting conditions. We live in the U.S. but the companies we’ve used are world wide so you shouldn’t have a problem either as long as you buy it early. You could also buy “cancel for any reason” trip insurance but that is a lot more costly. Hope this helps.

Please, post the names of the companies.

Some that we’ve used personally are AIG, Allianz & Generali. We usually go to a site like squaremouth which gives you a list of travel insurance companies, coverage and costs so you can compare them before selecting one. There are many sites that offer these types of comparisons but that’s the one we’ve used the most.

I owned a travel agency franchise for 45 years. The last time I checked (2021), Travelex had expanded to Canada and did have a pre-existing clause for coverage purchased within 15 days of booking the trip. Travelex is a stable company.

Goose Ins. Based out of Vancouver. I'm stage 4 matastic and after 8months of searching Goose was by far the best. 1150 for yearly coverage.

We use “insure my trip.com” for comparisons. We ended up buying trip insurance with preexisting condition coverage from NationwideMutual for my husband.
