Well, I just wrapped up two years of ADT (Lupron and Xtandi) on top of 36 rounds of radiation, and a RARP. At 57 when diagnosed (PSA 5.2, Gleason 4+3, one affected pelvic lymph node per PSMA PET scan), our plan was to throw the kitchen sink at my PCa and see if we can’t knock it out. Here I am at 59, 15 lbs heavier but in pretty good shape, labs look good, tired most of the time, and shifting into monitoring mode.
After my journey so far, I’d say it’s amazing what you can get used to. Fatigue, ED, incontinence, anemia, People have told me I am strong. I think I am just doing what the doctors tell me that offers me the best shot at a cure. Only time will tell.
As much as I looked forward to finishing up treatment and getting my body back from the ADT gremlins, I now realize that I now face a new set of unknowns and anxieties. Thanks for all of your thoughts and information that have gotten me this far. I’d appreciate any perspective on this next leg of the journey.
