Mostly based on cells and models: Targeting the prostate tumor microenvironment by plant-derived natural products

Since most of us take some kind of supplements and they are anyway helpful for general health, I think it's an interesting article. As long as we keep in mind that 99% is not done on humans, and when done in vivo some of these supplements have concentrations that would basically be unreachable for most humans.

Thanks for your research, I've had to put this one aside as it will take a lot more than 20 minutes to read.

Buongiorno! Thanks for another thought provoking article from your research.

What I take away is that the TME plays a critical role in PCa. And that there is an extensive set of natural products that can help, of which several herbal-derived with anti cancer potency. The graphic tells it best. I am pleased to see curcurum in there, I have it on my cereal every morning.

The article is very long and has plenty of information. I would like to plug it into an AI model to have it synthesised into a matrix of workable actions, including the right foods to eat. Meanwhile I’m adding grapes and green tea to my shopping list.

This is very interesting, I am going through it in detail and will see if it will change any of my dietary choices to make my body less attractive to PCa cells.

Here is another link to an article in a similar vein which I have read in detail:

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl...

Some of these natural compounds have dual roles, both inhibiting and assisting PCa cell growth: From section 2.3 starting 'Autophagy'........

'Indeed, while on one hand the autophagic flux clearly suppresses tumorigenesis, on the other hand it acts as a key survival mechanism in response to stress, thus promoting cancer cell proliferation. In the context of PCa, curcumin, sulforaphane, silibinin, ursolic acid, honokiol, and oridonin triggered cytoprotective autophagy'

Everything is not as it seems, be careful what you megadose on.

Indeed!

As usual, 99% of these studies are in vitro or in vivo…and we know that less than 10% of what works in vivo and in vitro works on humans :-( we will have to be our own testers

Yes, unfortunately there is little or no funding to investigate any potential cures that will not lead to another profitable drug for big pharma.

If it wasn't for Big Pharma you would be dead.

If and when I'm gone, it won't approach the times you have been removed from the group. Everyone knows sonny, you can't change your spots, Sonny. Now go spend the rest of your day arguing with Agnut, he crushes you.

I research different foods and supplements differently. I google “ does a particular food or supplement extent survival in prostate cancer patients?” I have come to the conclusion that while treating cancer slows it or even stops it if we ignore the cause we are chasing our tails. Curcumin detoxes the liver which allows me to take drugs like abiraterone and not elevate enzymes. It also makes the body insulin sensitive to help regulate blood sugar. It also helps maintain lipid balance which ADT has a tendency to throw out of balance. And, prostate cancer patients who eat tree nuts at least 5 days a week live longer than men who do not. It is amazing how some folks have a problem comprehending the fact that our diet and environment have a great deal to do with prostate cancer. Japanese men in Japan have a very low rate of Pca yet when they move to the US it jumps to very close to general US population. Raw unpasteurized sauerkraut is loaded with probiotics. Polish women eat it regularly but after moving to US most stop. Result: breast cancer increases by 30%. I think one of the best things to do is read the ingredient label. If it has more than 5 ingredients, move on.

Absolutely, it's our environment that has caused our problems, pollution and all the rubbish that is pumped into the soil and our foods, unfortunately not everyone can afford an organic diet.

Personally I make sure I steer clear of all simple carbs (difficult a this time of year) and eat a lot of fresh vegetables.

Exactly, the more live foods the better.

Yoohoo Caveman1 to Caveman2......... Caveman2 I can hear you..... Caveman1 What do you think about our environment? Caveman2 it sucks, since pollution is the problem with all the rubbish that is pumped into the soil and our foods. Caveman1 thank you, I betcha they'll be saying that same thing in lets say the 21st century. Caveman2 NFW BTW got any left over dinosaur meat and potatoes?....

Note: I wish to offer my apologies if I offended anyone regarding my so-called humor about "race" or "misogyny". To me, humor is boundless and since we entered this word crying, I thought it would be a good idea to exit laughing.

Good Luck, Good Health and Good Humor.
