No.1 scan showed 2 spots. After Radiation second scan negative but PSA rising from .15 to .7 over 6 months. How many can I have in a year? Other accurate scan alternatives?

It is not important to identify all metastases large enough and PSMA-avid enough to show up on a PSMA PET scan. Metastases will always proliferate and grow.

Yes. It’s a lot of unnecessary radiation.

Therapeutic IMRT radiation treatment involves about 1000 times higher dose _per_ session of a diagnostic scan. For those of us that have had 20 or more IMRT sessions, the incremental risk of a diagnostic scan is negligible. SBRT is a form of RT that has even higher doses. Once we have RT most long term SE's are baked-in so to speak.
