Related to metastasis?
not sure as yet, my post went before I intended it to. My issue is that I know I have an enlarged prostate but my Psa has always been low, however over the last 3 months I am having increasing pain in my ribs both in the front and back of my body. Today I saw my Gp who wants to run another PSA test which leads me to think he thinks it might be prostate related. I have a heightened fear as a few years ago my cousin was diagnosed when prostate cancer had already spread to his spine but had no other symptoms prior to that.
so you haven’t been diagnosed with PCa yet? I noticed you joined in 2018 and I assume you were an advocate or caregiver. Thank you for that.
I really don’t know what to say but telling you not to worry is BS. Get the PSA test ASAP, then you have a path forward.
All the best
To Red collector,
Would you be kind enough to furnish us with your bio background as it pertains to Pca? If you do it 's a good idea to post it in your bio area. The more info the better, since it will help you and help us too. THANK YOU!
Good Luck, Good Health and Good Humor.

Just a word of warning, not all Prostate Cancer expresses PSA. Stick on your Dr to find a solution to your pain and I pray it is some easily addressed issue.
Ask for an X ray as a starting point.
I would suggest you push for a MRI or CT scan. You cannot rely on PSA alone. Mine has been low (<0.1) for a nearly a year but my mets have continued to progress and I've now started chemo.
Hi, Has your PSA always been low?
On the plus side- good for your doctor for looking outside the box for your source of pain. Most docs suggest pain meds, PT, weightloss, etc for back pain and Pca can be missed. If it is cancer- find an oncologist who specializes in prostate cancer at a top facility.
From AI:
Rib pain can be caused by a variety of factors, including traumatic injury, muscle strain, joint inflammation, chronic pain, autoimmune disorders, fibromyalgia, and systemic illnesses such as lung cancer or sickle cell disease 12.
According to Dr. Anukriti Pant, a medical expert, other possible causes of rib pain include referred pain from the liver, spleen, and lungs 1.
It is recommended to seek medical evaluation if the pain persists or is severe, particularly if it is interfering with the ability to take a deep breath 2.
Last June, I had right side back pain for more than 3 weeks. I consulted with my MO and he did an MRI. nothing was found in terms of cancer. I couldn’t walk easily. Now? It’s totally gone. Was prescribed some pain meds that I didn’t take much of it. Do you think I should pursue this again to find out what was causing it?
I suggest you get the PSA test and then see a good urologist who may want to do an MRI or ultrasound guided biopsy of your prostate if the number is rising. You may also need an MRI or PET/CT scan for your rib pain.
One way or the other, you should be able to start figuring it out. Good luck!
