Bone pain

I've been getting increased bone pain to my upper arms (both sides). Most arm movement is ok, but putting on a shirt or jacket is painful and feels limited. This has come on since late January. My oncologist has recommended a CT scan to determine what it is and a single radiotherapy shot to each arm if cancer related. As a side note I'm now 3 sessions in to my 7 planned sessions of radiotherapy to my prostate. Anyone experienced something similar?

I read in an earlier post you were considering starting chemo

Did u do so?

I have not yet started chemo. I am currently having radiotherapy, 7 cycles in total on my prostate. Chemo is probably next on the list although enzalutamide has been mentioned as an option a few times.

My husband commenced enzalutamide two weeks ago

Extensive bony and lymphatic Mets

Severe fatigue general aches and pains and super emotional

Next PSA due in a month

I’ll let you know

I hope you can find effective treatment for the pain

I’ve had bone pain but not in the arms. CT sounds like a good idea. Palliative radiation can help if it’s PCA mets.

If there is cancer in your arm bones, why are you getting radiotherapy to your prostate? Are you taking statins?

The radiotherapy to the prostate and I actually had one session to the left of pelvis was planned. The bone pain to arms has been increasing since February. Yes I am on statins, as of two weeks ago. Have read statins could give bone and muscle pain.

If it got worse in the last several weeks then it could be the statin--especially if high dose simvastatin /zocor... Get the CT....good luck

You’re still a young man . It’s a rip off to get this so young . Hope those pains are just side effects from treatments. I had random phantom pains all over my body at times. It’s a terrible thought I have of the ms. Pac-Man’s chomping my existence down . Treat yourself well . Let the Dr stifle it . I’m curious . I did 5 per week x 8 wks imrt on my prostate ..initial treatment .. what you doing now?

Radiotherapy is once a week. Seven cycles (weeks) on the prostate.

Hi Easetiger, I am experiencing the same since Sunday, when I got a pain in my left leg, which I found difficult to control. I took 7 MS Direct, a morphine pill, which only helped after about 4 hours, because I became too fuzzy that I was able to sleep. The next day was in bed all day, trying to get the morphine out of my system. I saw my oncologist yesterday, prescribed a neuropathic drug called Lyrica. I have a feeling that it may work, but was told by my pharmacy that it takes a few days to properly work. I think the generic name is Pregabaline. Now my left shoulder is also affected, so I hope it works. Good luck and strength for you

I had the same problems you mentioned. My arms hurt so bad I had trouble putting on my belt and drying my back. The problems started when I started taking Bicalutamide and got worse when I went on Enzalutamide. My scans showed I have arthritis in most of my joints. As soon as I went on Abirterone the problem went done. The drugs we are taking seem to piggy back on problems we already have in our bodies. I’ve read here and in a couple other websites that these drugs affect tendons in our joints. I didn’t find any remedies for the problems. Heat helped reduce the pain in the shoulders and elbows. Good luck.

Get an X-ray to check for osteoporosis. Your pains may have nothing to do with your therapies in which case ibuprofin will work. If the scans show bone lesions, a spot radiation treatment worked for me.

Thanks all. I have tumors in both areas, and I think that, because the chemo is not working anymore, the pain comes back.

I Have experienced this limitation in my left shoulder when I try to put on my coat or a shirt. My hands/fingers ache every morning as well. I am convinced this is from Lupron. Before Lupron shots I did not have bone pain

Welcome to the club! This is usually associated with ADT not RT as I recall. And occurs in joints. A ct pet scan would find bone mets if any if Psa is around 2.0 . Exercise helps stop pain in joints and muscles (after the pain from workouts subsides). I also take celecoxib and duloxetine for arthritis pain.

Thinking about treatments possibly causing issues. I have a denosumab injection every month which is in this exact location, either left or right arm. I have had this now for 16 months so not sure why it could be giving issues now.
