Barrigel and markers

This Wednesday I am scheduled to have barrigel and markers. Doctor told me to take two extra strength Tylenol an hour before the procedure as well as one Valium. Also, antibiotics. Is the one Valium enough to calm me down as I am pretty anxious about the procedure? Has anyone else who has had these? Can you speak to your experience? How is the recovery? Thanks everyone!

Hi SilverSeppi,

I got three gold markers and three tatoos (small dots) done. I remember the procedure to get the markers to be something like getting a shot before having a tooth fixed - not pleasant, but nothing to be worried about. Its mostly a little uncomfortable.

You got this.

Ps. I think I now have about the coolest piercings and tatoos you can get ;)

How was the recovery time? Were you able to return to normal activities soon afterwards? Any lingering pain afterwards? Thanks again so much!

I don’t remember, so I guess there weren’t any problems after.

I had gold markers, Barrigel, cystoscopy and biopsy without any problems.

Had SpaceOar but no markers. I dealt with the procedure by setting my intention. Knowing it is a short procedure gave me the confidence and calmness to just lie there, let the doctor do his thing, and even observe what is happening from a "bystander" perspective. Go into the procedure with equanimity. I was surprised how well that worked.

my husband’s doctor told him he could buy some lidocaine and rub it on an hour before procedure. He’s going to take Xanax instead of valium. I don’t think doctor mentioned antibiotics. He does need an enema before procedure. He’ll do that at home. He’s scheduled for spaceoar/fiducials end of October. Good luck. Let us know how it goes.

Well I had the markers today. Turns out I didn't need the barrigel. Like most things, the expectation was worse than the actual process itself.Next week is the simulation and then the following week starts 28 treatments and of course have been on the ADT for a month
