lucrin injections v firmagon

Hi

Anyone experienced having Lucrin injections .I have been self injected firmagon since march 2022 going from originally PSA of 389 now hovering around 0.08 for the past 5 months with little or no side affects. The professors intern suggested maybe trying Lucrin injections every 3 months.A little reluctant to try as i am not sure how my body will react. Also why change if firmagon is very effective?

I had never heard of it either but it's similar to Lupron and kind of in the family doing the same.

Do u find self injecting challenging, especially as firmagon shot needs to be done correctly?

I have a nursing paramedic background so no problems injecting.Easy these days all the pieces screw together. Make sure you dissolve the product really well..

IMHO I would stick with the firmisgone. Its working. No reason to take a chance on seeing progression if Lucrin didnt work.

It would be interesting to know why changing was mentioned by your medical team.

The two are not the same in method of action.

Firmagon-hormone antagonist.

Lucrin- hormone agonist.

I have tried Lupron, casodex, radiation, LU-177, Firmagon & recently Zoladex over the past 12 years & the only treatment I would go back to is Firmagon with little or no SE, apart from a skin rash. Currant PSA is 0.95 & on vacation 4 months now.

That old add says" When your on a good thing stick to it."

I will stay on the firmagon

one interesting find is if you switch to Lupron don’t take shot in butt area but more towards side of hip as some reports indicate that you could develop sciatica from a bad Lupron injection. This is what my nurse at MSKCC told me.

Stay strong
