Xtandi and feet swelling

One month since Zytiga and Preg discontinued Xtandi 2-80mg tablets 1x/day.

Week 5 I began to experience serious bilateral ankle and feet swelling. So much so I am smashed into a 1/2 size larger shoe. Just bought sandals.

If you experienced this problem what did you do? BP ok, pulse rate up 8-12 No pain in my promary CC right middle toe. No real problem bare foot.

You may not be taking enough prednisone with your abiraterone. The dose needed can be very individual.

sorry for the confusion. I was taken off Zytiga when my PSA got to .68 and placed on Xyandi. The prednisone was stopped at that time as well. Swelling began a little maybe 2 week after and ballooned 2 days ago

Prednisone must be tapered down.

I have had major foot swelling that has increased my shoe size by a whole size. It is worse in the right leg and increases through the day. My GP tells me this is due to a circulation problem caused bya tumour in a lymph node in my pelvic region and possibly exacerbated by the Xtandi ; my blood is able to get down my legs easily, but has trouble coming back up because the tumour is pressing against my some veins. I am developing varicose veins as a result. But during the day the swelling causes my skin to become itchy and taut in my calves and feet -- so much so that it becomes shiny and reflective -- and my feet look and feet like the Cockney plates of meat. I have been put on low dose dexamethadone to help counter the matter, but it has not stopped it completely. Boy, do my swollen ankles feel strange when I walk at the end of the day.

I would suggest that you keep an eye on albumin level in the blood test.

I use a tens. Machine, two footplates stimulate the feet and ankles.

One of the many SEs from Xtandi that my husband suffered was fluid retention. At one point it got so bad that it accumulated around his heart and caused breathing problems. I took him to the ER and his cardiologist had him put on IV diuretics overnight that fixed the problem. Since then he's been on 40mg Furosemide daily.

Thank you! I am getting in contact with my MO tomorrow. Not critical at this point unless walking in a formerly comfortable shoe counts. Feel it pretty much globally. Trying a gentle herbal remedy.....quite a dance

A diuretic should do the trick. Cardio had him on 20mg to start but after the ER visit upped it to the 40 mg. Every now and then his right foot/ankle/calf will swell but staying off his feet for a day with leg elevated always gets it back down. Good luck.

I have the same problem, been on it now for about four months. Beer makes my ankles swell big-time and it takes a week or more to dissipate. Getting on the exercise bike or going to the gym, some sort of exercise to get the blood flowing, makes it go away. Walking might help; one less drug to take if you're so inclined.

I agree beer isn't a good choice, just got the taste back after 2 years of no interest, go figure. The help of this site priceless indeed. I am creating a formulary with my infopathy system and hoping this helps.

I had feet swelling when my cancer went into lymph nodes. Lupron and Xtandi brought them back to normal. That’s been 3 years ago.

Not sure if it would be related to your current symptoms, but we were warned that prednisone cannot be stopped cold turkey, even if the medication that required it (Zytiga in my husband's case) is stopped. There is a withdrawal protocol to follow, but many people, once they're on it stay on it. I'm surprised it was pulled so suddenly.

That was my thinking as well. I did attempt to get my prescription refilled and ween down like 5mg a day or so. Every professional I discussed this with said 10Mg a day was nothing to worry about. Go figure. Thank you for responding

My whole left leg and foot swelled up over a day or so soon after I had RT to my prostate and right pelvic bone. I'd been on Prostap and Xtandi for nearly a year so don't think it was due to that. I went to A&E (ER) and at first they thought it might be a blood clot but after tests decided it was lymphedema. It's still swollen but nowhere near as much.
