As you know Brian is going for 1st Pluvicto treatment Friday. We were wondering if anyone has anything to say about the supposed 3 day radioactivity exposure period where... when he needs hugs and kisses the most... I cannot be within 3 feet of him.
Is this a medical over-reaction? Or legitimate safety concerns?

My husband's is going for his fifth Pluvicto treatment this Friday. We drive 4 to 5 hours to Los Angeles. After the treatment I ride in the back of the truck, so I stay away about 4 feet from him. At first I was very upset not to be able to hug him, but we worked it out. I spent time with him in the room, watch movies together, and have meals together but far away from each other. Thank God we have a big bedroom. We don't use same bathroom for 4 days and obviously don'tsleep together, even though we have a king bed. I put all his meals in paper plates, plastic forks etc. Do what makes you feel safe and take your own precautions. The oncologist told us as long as we stay 3 feet away, we try to maintain more distance... but still be able to be together and spend quality time. Even though for the first 2 days he sleeps a lot so I do my stuff. I hope this helps some how. I pray for you and Brian wish you the best. You are not alone, there's hope.🙏🤍
Thank you Chiquis. That does help a lot. I guess being together is a kind of emotional hug. Question: When he's "sleeping a lot"... is that due to feeling ill or just fatigue?
Has his QOL improved since treatments? He's had 5 of 6 total ... just wondering.
He sleeps the most first day of treatment due to fatigue. His PSA before treatment was 10.88 but didn't have no symptoms. Thank God after treatment the only symptom he has is being tired but still has been able to walk/run 3 miles every day. After the 3 days of quarantine life is pretty normal; movies, dinner, etc. Yes, he will have a total of 6 treatments, so 2 more to go. I'm greatfull his QOL is fairly well. I pray that everything will go good with Brian and for peace and strength for the both of you. You are not alone🙏🤍
I go tomorrow morning for dose number six. First three were a breeze, but four and five left me tired but still kept most normal schedule. Swimming three days a week. PET in April showed favorable results on a couple of lymph node hot spots.
I do look forward to overall feeling better after we get this one out of my system.
DH has had 4 of 6 Pluvicto treatments. We keep the three feet distance as advised, sleeping in separate rooms, using separate bathrooms. He avoids contact with everyone else for those first three days. I use regular plates and utensils. Clothing and bedding are washed separately and the washer gets run on empty to wash it. Then HE cleans before I move back into our bedroom and bathroom. Fatigue has hit him several days after the infusion. It has been much more significant with the fourth treatment. Our best wishes for success. It can work miracles-hope one comes your way.
I just had my 3rd last week. When you see all of the Docs., nurses and techs coming in and out of the infusion room, leaving the door open, we lean toward the idea that these restrictions are a lot of hype and are to satisfy the lawyers! The tech told me she gets more impact on her dosimeter when she runs scans.
So, we don't worry about it. We hug all we want! I stay away from children & pregnant women, pets, in case. Don't rely on my actions, however. We sleep in separate rooms anyway, due to my snoring.
After 2nd, PSA dropped from 2.0 to 0.3. Dr. Kwon, Mayo, says in a YouTube video, that a reduction of at least 50% in PSA, after 2 infusions, is a good sign. Will get results from 3rd, in 3 wks.

Thanks John! I figured as much. They seem to focus on LOW radiation levels in the literature. He was scheduled for this morning but evidently Novartis sent his dosage to Chicago. A drug representative is driving to pick it up so after some confusion this morning we'll go to U of M at 2:30pm, get prepped and wait. Hopefully he can get this started today! We're ready!
