is there a difference between having a germline BRCA 2 mutation vs a somatic ? My dads is somatic not inherited ? They saw this by testing the tumor. I'm still a bit confused on it all can anyone clarify. Also is olparib safe with Zytiga? Any thoughts.

Hello Chris,

Your question is very timely. Just a few days ago the FDA approved combining the PARP inhibitor Olaparib (Lynparza) with Abiraterone (Zytiga) for men with metastatic prostate cancer. Several articles about this. Good luck!

Germline means it's in his inherited genes. Somatic means its only in his tumors. They both respond to PARP inhibitors. Several recent trials have shown the value of adding Zytiga with it:
