A couple days ago there was a post about a drug that can mimic exercise. Here is an alternative of sorts.

A friend forwarded the post about locamidazole or LAMZ to me the other day. I emailed him with some info that may be of interest to many of you.

Some years ago I read that vibration plates were being used to prevent bone loss in the elderly that were unable to exercise. Surprisingly it was also found that standing on a vibration accelerated the healing and recovery of soft tissues.

I'll paste the body of the email I sent to my friend below. Do with it as you wish. There will be much info on the net for anyone with an interest in this topic.

I scanned the article. Bone density was what was used as a standard measurement to gauge the effectiveness of the drug. You know about the vibration plates originally developed to prevent bone loss in astronauts on long term periods in space don't you? Then, after the astronauts use of these plates proved their value in preventing bone loss, vibration plates were used for the elderly unable to exercise to prevent bone loss. It was found that the plates not only prevented bone loss but accelerated soft tissue recovery such as when a patient had surgery. Imagine that! Next--the trainers for professional sports teams --such as the NFL--used these plates to hasten recovery of the athletes from workouts and injury! Many players bought their own vibration plates to use at home. Gym Source sold high end vibration plates and Amazon carries quite a selection of vibration plates.

Rather than chance side effects from a drug--buy a vibration plate--uhh--the only side effect will be when one opens their electric bill! Haa! Unfortunately, standing on a vibration plate is still --no sweat! Your toxins remain!

I looked at videos, read research and articles and so on to find out the info above.

My best to you all,

Currumpaw

THANKS C---, DON'T like taking drugs and not a weight lifter or runner so I guess I should find the gnarliest-bumpiest-pot holiest roads to ride my bikes on making sure to have 100psi in the tires. Get good cardio + vibration or mount the bike on plates in my garage then ride and vibrate in place

OR go ride Parris Roubaix

WOW! Gotta check into this. THANK YOU!

Why stand on them? That requires effort. I’m going to get one the size of my bed and sleep on it.

That is funny London441!

I once stayed at a hotel in which the bed had a special feature. Put some coins in a slot and the mattress gave a vibrating massage. That was many years ago. If such a feature is available on a hotel mattress today, I imagine it only takes a credit card.

The fact is there is a certain number of micro vibrations that make these vibration plates effective.

Of course, we remember. The coin operated bed vibrator was a redeeming feature of cheap hotels everywhere. This reminds me more of the standing ‘jiggle the fat away’ belt machine that looked like a treadmill, another bygone wonder product. Forgive my skepticism.

Skepticism is expected. I suggested looking for the online info. Results returning one to the state of one's youth shouldn't be anticipated. Modest gains in BMD, but especially important, slowing, stopping and even moderately reversing bone mineral density just by standing on a vibrating plate for those who can no longer do vigorous exercise is a much more positive than continued loss of BMD.

Type the below into your search bar--just a simple. "astronauts using vibration plates"--after reading about the results found by astronauts using vibration plates, read the "People Also Ask" articles below that. The Healthline article is excellent.

There is plenty of informed skepticism on the internet on the subject as well.

I sympathize with those who ‘can no longer do vigorous exercise’, but of course those who claim this is the case dwarf the real thing.

Anything that helps is nice. Even if I were seriously intrigued, this is far too expensive for me to even experiment with, but perhaps if I should ever actually become that decrepit I’ll consider it. Great luck to those who try it.

Rather than criticize, why not contribute in a positive way?

I just came across an update and another device, also developed by NASA, that NASA uses to reverse and prevent bone loss in astronauts.

It was so easy to find. Here is the link.

You might be interested in reading about LIVE O2 training which I did for a few years. It is similar in some ways to hyperbaric O2.

I'll leave that to you. I have no interest in it. The link is dead by the way.

The link is not dead. Copy everything between the lines. I just accessed the article by copying everything between the lines.

Please do not leave reading about LIVE O2 to me. I do not need to read about LIVE O2 training. As I wrote above, I did it for several years. Competitive cyclists did training sessions on the same equipment I used. I had the best competitive numbers of all those who trained on it and I am not a cyclist but I had once been an athlete.

‘Not found’. Sorry. Doesn’t matter anyway. Everyone should try what they think will help. I wouldn’t use it if it were free. Maybe someday. Enjoy!

i have one at home Power Plate. Cost is high but easy and fun to use. Had no idea about the bone benefits. Compliments my walks and pool workouts

Soft tissue too RCOG2000.

A doctor in Sarasota who was using a plate to promote bone density for his elderly patients had a minor operation. He stood on the plate himself and was surprised at how quickly his surgery was healing. That was how it was found these plates accelerated recovery from work outs and healing and trainers in the NFL began using the plates.
