Was on a Training Hike for that Make-A-Wish event in May and around mile 3 this stinkin doggo charged and bit my L calf. A lady in a truck saw and turned on the road I was on and scared the dog away. She asked How I was and I said that I was fine and could still walk. got back here and put Triple Antibiotic and wrapped it, also took 4 x 500mg Amoxicillin as a preventative. And y'all know that I continued the hike and I had sent a pic of the bite to a long time pt, she sent it to her Vet friend and said I had to go to the ER ASAP!!! Filled out a Bite Report for Animal Control to test dog for rabies. Got a Tetanus on

Well 6 hrs later I'm back and have 10 stitches in a 4 cm long gash. That's the ER MD and he was wonderful and we chatted each other up. Also, ya know this a small town, one of the RNs there exclaimed 'Dr. Kam, what are you doing here" I then pointed to my Left calf. LoL

She gave a great Tetanus shot and wrapped up the wound nicely. MD said I can remove sutures in 10 days. They gave me Norco and Antibiotics, I asked them if I didn't need the opiates could I sell at the local HS

Yes, I had a grand time joking and singing, even got the ER Md to sing with me

Crazy *ss sh*t, over 4000 miles running/hiking and that was 1st dog attack. One of my patients said that I should carry, told her her that dog came up from behind and next thing I know he was on me 😂 probs not nuff time to turn and shoot

Bear spray? I know I get dogs running ar me when biking but normally a firm voice stops them. A complete sneak attack only happened once and luckily it wasn't a biter. Glad your ok.

I like dogs better than people but have no stomach for an aggressive dogs toward people. My guess is it’s the result of an owner with an attitude.

That house is by itself and it's not a place for many pedestrians, so maybe Owner just thought wasn't necessary, Animal Services will hopefully know if that dog has bitten others. There's a Google Map pic in the above photo album

I’ve been “ away “ so to speak and only glancing at the group sporadically. Dealing with other things, might have to seek out a new caregiver, dunno. When it rains , it pours yayahahahaya.

yea, it’s been raining at the coast as well. Watching the nightly news right now, weather man says , starting Thursday night, we will get a whopping 3.5 additional inches of rain thru Sunday. This rain, however is a warm rain , so it’ll melt the snow it hits up to nearly 5000’ altitude. With nearly 9’ of snow in places like shaver lake , there will be a massive water runoff that will hit down here. Lots of worry about all the storage lakes and dams being able to handle the expected additional flow. This could get scary and has potential for massive property damage from flooding . WOW …. I’d expect that a goodly bit of this is headed your way too.

An event like this has never happened before, they don’t know exactly what to expect or handle it. Stay tuned ….

I hope your dogie downer experience is healing fast … how bizarre to have that happen. I’d hope you’ll go for a few $100,000 in personal injury damages to teach this you’re responsible and criminal dog owner to be more careful. This is in no way a “ accident “, it’s negligence. Their insurance would cover it anyway.

Take that cash and fly back to Hawaii or Tahiti and treat yourself plus help erase the emotional and mental damage from that experience.

that’s serious leg damage brother , not an insignificant scratch. Looks like it’s healing up nicely tho. I’d be getting deep into someone’s wallet for that kind of negligence.

I get chased on my etrike occasionally, I carry a “ fish whacker “ and a “ Taser Pulse “ for dangerous “ dogs “ of all species including the bipedal type. It’s too bad , sometimes, about having to worry about things like that in our lives. I’ve had “ two “ bipedal dog attacks, one in a local neighborhood park at the end of my own street. ( living in an upscale neighborhood doesn’t exempt you from anything these days ). Certain kinds of bipedals see something attractive that they want ( like my expensive etrike ) and decide if they might want to forcibly take it. A grey haired old man … easy prey huh ? I stepped off my Harley to sit on my etrike, ….. easy prey I am not.

3/5/23 Aloha, dockam, very sorry, I often wonder what rabid animals you encounter up there. I trust you got your rabies shot it must be given within 1-2 days following the animal bite. There are 4 rabies shots given over 14 days. "If you think you may have been exposed to rabies, your best option is to head to your nearest emergency room (ER). Many primary care and urgent care clinics don’t administer this vaccine."
