Greetings!....My scan results came in on Friday but doctor didn't call with details yet so I'll be calling him on Monday. In the meantime, wondering if I could get some of your opinions.

I'm very happy and surprised to see all skull mets are "no longer present"... I'm wondering if that means they've become inactive/dormant or truly just disappeared... Gone?...

I see that the laundry list of mets locations on the first scan is much shorter on the most recent one but no mention of "no longer present" ie: shoulder girdle. What happened with that? ... Also noted on latest scan "There is again activity noted throughout the cervical thoracic and

lumbar spine"....so these mets are active?.... My PSA is down to 1... Are these mets putting out PSA? I'm thinking maybe these mets are of the type of cancer that puts out very little PSA even though at DX PSA was 434... So I'm confused as whether I should consider this scan awesome news or be concerned that remaining of mets are of the much more aggressive and deadly cancer that puts out very little or no PSA...

I included the scan findings of each here:

Initial Bone Scan 01/06/2022

FINDINGS: Widespread osseous metastatic disease. Metastatic lesions

seen involving the midline frontal region as well as left temporal and parietal bones. Widespread metastatic disease seen involving the cervical and thoracic and lumbar spine as well as pelvic bones.

Numerous metastatic disease to the ribs. Metastatic disease involving the proximal femora. Metastatic disease involving the shoulder girdle involving the scapulae bilaterally.

IMPRESSION: WIDESPREAD OSSEOUS METASTATIC DISEASE.

Bone Scan of 03/15/2023

RESULTS: Previously noted calvarial activity is no longer seen. There is again activity noted throughout the cervical thoracic and lumbar spine. Bilateral uptake is noted within the pubic rami as well

as the intertrochanteric region of the legs. Rib activity is unchanged.

IMPRESSION:

1. STABLE METASTATIC DISEASE WITH NO NEW AREAS OF UPTAKE OF THE RADIOTRACER TO SUGGEST NEW METASTATIC DISEASE

2. PREVIOUSLY SEEN CALVARIAL ACTIVITY IS NO LONGER PRESENT

Any advice appreciated!

Looks like a good scan! A radiologist will never comment on what happened to a spot, just on it's presence, non-presence, size, intensity (SUV), maybe a few other parameters. Congratulations and enjoy the weekend!

I think the summary makes things clearer than trying to analyze individual observations. However I too am guilty of looking at every point of my reports also comparing last one with current one lol.

For me this has always meant the brakes are on. Which is better than the gas to the floor.

Odd that the skull mets are noted as completely absent. Usually some scarring/damage indistinguishable from active mets. Maybe you had a PSMA scan? That might explain the ability to confidently note skull mets as absent.

Thanks so much Camp!... No, it was a regular nuclear bone scan... 🙂

They're gone for now. I had something similar where Sept 2022 the bone scan showed nothing at all. For all I know they're still all gone ... but I don't know. Treatment continues.

Best of luck.

Give your doctor time to evaluate the report! You are not his only patient.
