In 2014 at the age of 53 I underwent surgery for PC. Was a gleason 8 with extracapsular extension. Fast forward 9 years and I recently found out I had recurrent PC. Noticed PSA rising in August of 22 when PSA was 0.20. In January of 23 it rose to 0.34. Urologist has scheduled a special PET scan for next week and I have an appointment with a radiation oncologist three days after that. Looking for some insider advice on what to ask RO, any personal experiences or advice you can offer would, and any untoward side affects you may have experienced. Thank you for sharing your time and expertise.

would be helpful to see path report from time of surgery and log of PSA (ultraPSA) monitoring over the years. Aby other health problems?

Thank you for replying to me. I don't know what an ultra-sensitive PSA test is. Up until August of 22 all of my annual PSA tests were done by my primary care doctor. They were all 0.0 or less than 0.1. Once the PSA began to rise the PSA started to be measured in the hundredths.

August 2022 0.20 October 2022 0.25 January 2023 0.34

I was staged T3a. 20% tumor volume, Gleason 8 with one positive margin and extracapsular extention. Cancer was detected on both sides of prostate with a majority of it on the left side where positive surgical margin was detected. If you need any additional information , let me know.

Post again when you have the results of the PET/CT since the RT treatment plan will be based in the findings of the study.

The basic treatment could be radiation to the prostate fossa plus whole pelvis radiation and ADT for 6 months or more.

If there are lymph nodes involved or distant mets the treatments will be different.
