Probiotics for Radiation Associated GI Side Effects ?

I’m on round 4 / 28 of IMRT to my prostate, pelvic lymph nodes and right hip. Things are generally going well except for some mild nausea and abdominal cramping.

Some have suggested taking probiotics. I’m not a yogurt fan so don’t want to try that. Other suggestions for brands I might try? TIA.

I just finished 20 of 32 fractions to my prostate bed and lymph nodes. On the recommendation of my RO I am taking Colon Health Probiotic by Phillips. I haven't had any nausea and only 1 session of diarrhea.

I had my first session of IMRT just today. Two weeks ago I received 15 Gy to my prostate in the form of HDBT. I did experience diarrhea after the brachytherapy. I have always used probiotics and I just doubled the recommended dose which seemed to solve the problem. I just take two of the inexpensive digestive gummies available from Costco.

My Nat Path Doc put me on: nhc.com/hmf-intensive-probi... toward the end of my radiation treatments, as I was having horrible diarrhea. I took 2/day the first week, then 1/day. It def helped the situation. Best of luck to you!
