I have Prostate Cancer Adenocarcinoma grade 7 "in the early states" hopeful? How long do the effects of the Decapeptyl injection last after?

I feel pretty hopeful of getting through, as I have been caught early🤞 I am in no real pain a bit irregular, BUT the effects of the Decapeptyl injection are really making me very short tempered, brain fog, short memory, etc, my general health is poor, from other medical conditions, so I'm a stay away sort of person presently😤😤! I have epilepsy and was on Fycompa medication, the side effects of that lasted 30 months, does the effects of the Decapeptyl wear off, if it does approximately how long? Maybe🤞 if I get through the treatment something to look forward to some sort of sanity?

Hi

I live in the US. We do not have Decapeptyl here. It sounds as if it is an androgen inhibitor. Everyone’s body reacts differently. If the side effects really bother you, ask your doctor what can be done to help fight the effects.

In all my 'paperwork' [literally half my post medically related 🥴🙄]I found a letter from my Consultant, looking between the lines, small print, answered most of my questions, localised PC treated radiotherapy, lasting approx. 3 months, probably finished by February, 20 radiotherapy sessions, am worried about side effects from radiation to my Schwannomatosis NF3, other than that nothing really to worry about. My brother had PC in 2013, left him mentally and physically scarred!👍

Do you have advanced prostate cancer? If there are no detected metastases, you seem to have intermediate risk localized PCa. If you are using it adjuvant to radiation, it will only be used for 4-6 months. Testosterone should recover quickly afterward.

Much relieved, I would say you have made my day, except it is 3.30 am here, no I was only diagnosed in June 2022, apparently 20 sessions radiation to come, but I am very open to side effects🙄thanks Tall_Allen👍

Do you have metastases or localized PC. ? If you do not have metastases, this is a better forum for you
