QOL post , easy home seafood feast same as fine restaurant. Anyone can do it.

this QOL seafoodie feast is one anyone that lives in the city can do. The Bloody Mary drinks optional but highly recommended. Consider making them Virgin Mary’s if you want that “ full “ fancy restaurant experience but don’t drink alcohol.

This is lobster tail, shrimp sautéed in garlic and butter, medium sized skewered scallops, soft cooked breaded fantail shrimp, rice pilaf and Broccoli….. biscuits. The bloody Mary’s recipe from google , The fresh zesty one with lots of fresh lemon and lime in it. The seafood is a home DoorDash delivery from Red Lobster. Easy breezy , no fuss no mess , brain numbing delicious. Watched Sunday night football , feasted and had drinks with the wife. QOL ….. oh my yes.

Anyone out there can do this , even if you don’t cook … great weekend “ special “ for yourself and your loved ones. Takes your mind off “ things “ for a while ( longer while with the drinks 😁 ) , great stuff brothers. Mid week works out as well. Yayahahahaya

basically home delivery done on a grander scale ….more in tune with a QOL experience than plain ole burgers and fries … just say’in.

Bloody Mary’s made at home … recipe that uses multiple seasonings and fresh lemon and lime to make it zesty.

Bloody Mary with fresh lemon and line.

Oh that looks so delish!! And what a variety of proteins that you have :-).

Great QoL post, Life's too short to deprive yourself. Carpe Feedem :-)

I love Bloody Mary's, but really can't do too spicy any more, maybe taste buds are oversensitive after all those chemos

thank you bruddha … I appreciate it. I go light on the hot sauce myself, the hammer doesn’t do too spicy anymore as well.

yea we’re lucky here, we are only about 100 miles out of Monterey, Ca … it’s a really big seafood terminal, …. For example, You can watch the squid boats all lit up at night during season …. and caravans of big rigs loading them up for transport. Hard to imagine they draw that much seafood out of there. Most everything is quite seasonal , of course. They raise abalone there , right under the commercial fishing pier and the pier has a big retail outlet for “ todays “ catches.

Trucks line up to transport all the seafood at night, most of it going north to S.F. and Napa Valley , but there is an enormous Asian population in the Fresno Metro ( over 100,000 ) … we are a big market for the seafood and low trans port charges to truck here. Big transport heavy aircraft land here daily loaded as well.

My brother-in- law lives in LaPorte , Tx …. He retired from his chemical mfg business ( also in LaPorte ) … we can walk just down the street from his condo and throw a line in the water , and catch fish fresh for supper. yayahahahaya yayahahahaya.

No doubt super fresh … they probably caught it about a quarter mile out in the bay , right outside the restaurant window. Yayahahahaya.

Might I suggest grapey good Lambrusco? A red wine with bubbles for people like me with an unsophisticated palate. Probably wrong for seafood but was great with that Thanksgiving turkey.

Hmm... Hey Brother K!!

That is really a feast for the Gods!!

You should consider trying out for Gordon Ramsey's "Hells Kitchen". Who Knows??

Now, regarding Bloody Marys ...

I thought that you were on STRICT dietary maintenance regarding ANY type intoxicants!!

That would include alcohol, weed, schrooms , mescaline, acid and maybe even Draino!!😁

If I didn't live 3000 miles away, I'd invite myself and "Darling Wife" over.

Best,

💓💓💓

hey brother westof …. Yayahahahaya. I’m on a strict “ seefood “ diet. See food, eat it. 😂😂 you can get that exact “ feast for the gods “ for yourself, in your local Red Lobster restaurant , they have DD delivery and curbside pickup. 😁😁😁

Absolutely right …. No intoxicants for me yayahahahaya yayahahahaya Noooooooo Not hardly yayahahahaya. And hey man, don’t discount Draino, I hear tell it can be used for a variety of different things used related to …er …ah … well, you know , chemical processes.

Good to see boys with cancer just want to have fun. (Sorry, Cyndi.) The joy of being alive is obvious, and it got my day off to a good start. ...now for a bowl of oatmeal and decaf coffee, oh well. Thanks everyone.

Kaliber profile image
Kaliber in reply toJvaughan0

hey … oatmeal and coffee are a great morning start ( or anytime ) . Starting your day off with a nice robust breakfast is always a beneficial way to start anyones day.

Then follow up and plan a short local trip, or a longer resort visit , ….. anything ….. with the loved ones. Those of us still able better get going … now … our clocks are ticking loudly.

no kidding. My recent years visits to RL weren’t memorable, to say the least. We were pleasantly surprised that this delivery meal was well prepared and obviously cooked with culinary skill. Maybe all those culinary schools are starting to pay off. Yayahahahaya.

Looks yummy K. You make continuing to live sound like a good idea. Sign me up!

I had a place on the oregon coast for a while. Loved being at the beach, but the best thing about it was the super fresh seafood. I frequented the place where you could see them unload the day's catch and set to work cleaning it immediately. No door dash in that extremely small town, but many's the night I made a dash out for some take home to be savored in front of the fire.

Kaliber profile image
Kaliber in reply toCarlosbach

yessiree buddy … now you’re talk’in.

I intend to stretch my remaining time out as much as possible and I’m gonna try to fill it with interesting, distracting , fun things to do . This especially with the wife in tandem. “ continuing to live “ is an important thought. To hell with sitting around wringing our hands wondering if we really need this chit on a stick life. Let’s all of us , instead, fill it with some great family enjoyment that enriches us and makes our loved ones smile. Wives “ know “ when we are thinking those “ dark “ thoughts … QOL helps every everyone have a better life worth living for. I don’t want to be in hospice crying, thinking back on what could have been when I had my last good quality time … just say’in.

❤️❤️❤️

My philosophy as well. Sometimes my hammer (little h, not a capital H - don't want to offend the original Hammer) gets worried that I am doing too much, pushing myself too hard, but I'm determined to seize as much pleasure and joy from this life as I can.

If I was Randy I would post a clip from Jim Carry's movie "Yes Man" here. Ask me if I want to try something new, I'll respond YES, DAMN IT! YES!!!

yeaaaaaaa buddy …. I’m on board. Here , I can’t do “ all that “ because it’s the hammer pushing me in a wheeled chair, with a bad back. I have to take it easy for her. Places where I can use my etrike … makes it easy for her, but I can’t take it everywhere.

💪💪💪😁😁😁

Here's a tip for getting a free meal at a Red Lobster restaurant. Let them drop your drink in your lap when they bring it to the table. Happened to my friend when I was eating lunch with him years ago at a Red Lobster, so his meal was free! 😆 🦊

Kaliber profile image
Kaliber in reply tocancerfox

ewwwwww … dunno about that cold drink, plus the embarrassment of getting up and looking like you pee’d yourself yayahahahaya yayahahahaya. You’d have to walk back down the entire shopping center scowling at people who are giving you the “ looks and laughing “ yayahahahaya yayahahahaya. Next I’d prolly be a /Reddit mime yayahahahaya.

Got you. I think most of us face mental decline as well as physical. I know that I would hate to have to take my old (pre SE's) self in any kind of a mental challenge.

However, dumbed down or not, I try to keep whatever brain activity that remains focused on getting the most out of my life. You, Doc and the others help to reinforce that approach and outlook. Thanks

Hey, Carlosbach , Mahalo for the mention 😀 There is Chemo Brain, and ADT induced cognitive issues: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl....

Cardio may increase BDNF: psychologytoday.com/us/blog....

Also, cardio perfuses Oxygen thruout your body into the very fine capillaries in brain and fingers/toes, that may prevent neuropathy and cognitive issues too.

it’s really nice here, the soothing, pounding, surf sounds are wonderful. Sitting out on the walkway, four stories up for a great view. Not too windy, warm in the sun. This is where we got that amazing cioppino last visit. Going for that for supper tonight. Not thinking about “ anything “ except how nice this is. A deluxe mind salve. Yayahahahaya yayahahahaya. this is our Christmas present. It’s been a great day. The off season room is affordable and I’m in a wheeled chair and still having a great time. This is something about any of us can do and take our minds off things and elevate our moods. Perfect for anyone for an affordable QOL trip. Whale watching boats from the pier out in front of us , no whales yet.

Trying to not be jealous, but I am a cantankerous old croaker - "Hey you kids, take that racket outside!!!

I'm fortunate enough to get over to the Oregon coast regularly. No Cypress trees doing a full sized impression of Bonzai, but still amazingly healing. Here's a pic of my son and youngest grandchild taken near Newport on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Beautiful sunset that day, but the best part was when my granddaughter snuggled up close to me in the recliner and took a nap. Ahhhh

lovely…. a loving family can be powerful medicine. Especially the pure , innocent love of a snuggling grandaughter. That’s “ premium “ QOL “ time , best of the best buddy.

Great looking beach location too. We don’t all have family that will succeed us … You are lucky my friend. Great QOL contribution. It’s not necessarily just about travel and culinary exploits, hobbies, …. loving family action is tops on the list.
