In the UK, they usually prescribe alendronate, I think.

However this is not Magnesium Glycinate.

Magnesium deficiency is rare (about 2%) in the population.

It's easy enough to find out if one has a serum Mg deficiency. Assuming serum magnesium is within normal range, there is no evidence that supplementing magnesium will lessen osteoporosis.

However, bisphosphonates and other osteoclast inhibitors will restore bone mineral density and prevent fragility fractures in men on long-term ADT.

Magnesium glycinate is easily absorbed.

It is not a treatment from osteoporosis, and neither are Calcium and Vitamind D. If calcium, vitamin D or magnesium levels are low, then supplementation is indicated.

Bisphosphonates, Denosumab, Teriparatide etc. are indicated in the treatment of osteoporosis.

Consult with your doctor

My recollection is that the Magnesium glycinate version of Magnesium is the best.

Might assess your physiological Ph, like urine and oral pH if on the acid side, needs adjusted by diet life style as well as adjunct therapies.

I am waiting for a reply from hospital as what treatment will be best for me as I have locally advanced prostate cancer also hiatus hernia so it looks like denosumab for me it's easier on the stomach, I have been on ppis for years they stop you from absorbing nutrients, plus I have no testosterone. All gloom.

I hope you can help the docs help you with food and nutrition choices. Urine pH balancing is an easy start

I take magnesium for heart health, as I am prone to atrial fibrillation. I take 400 mg 2x a day. It is called Magnesium Citrate but also includes Magnesium Glycinate and Magnesium Malate. I opted for Softgels as they are easier to swallow than big hard tablets. It is the 'Now' brand from Vitacost. I take vit K with Nattokinase for bone health, also from Vitacost.

I have low magnesium. I was taking 200mg Nature Made Magnesium Glycinate but it seemed to start dropping when I started Lutetium treatment. I doubled the dosage to 200mg in the am and 200 mg in the PM and I’m now in normal range.

I like Natures Branch magnesium glycinate (Amazon) or I buy from KetoGenics (TRAACS) as theirs actually seems to be absorbed more as I don't need as much. I use it for heart health, muscle health (leg cramps), constipation and anxiety. I also take potassium daily as well.
