Orgavyx vs Lupron/Casodex

I've had Lup/Cas. 4 times since 2011. Each time, it worked great, enough to warrant a nice HT vacation. Now, once again, PSA is rising (2.0 now). We will do 1 more early Dec.

I've done Lupron/Casodex before and the cost is very reasonable. In fact, I've already reached my yearly out-of-pocket ins. max and assuming my early Dec. PSA continues upward, if I do the usual at the doctor's office, my cost will be ZERO.

Still, Dr. Lam is recommending Orgavyx. I am supposed to call "Biologic" in 3 days. They will get some information from me. I then call them in 2 weeks and they will tell me my copay (I think they somehow go thru my insurance). The first 30 days they send me the supply free (like drug pushers, I guess).

Anyone on Org.? What is your cost?

Forgetting about cost, does it make sense to switch? I am leaning towards doing the switch.

I'll post developments here FYI but I am seeking out some wisdom from this group

Nice to know was recommended by dr. Lam . I researched it myself and decided to go with it. as Nubeua mono efffect was declining and lupron before it. It’s more effective, no T flare, best for intermittent HT

If you intend to do intermittent again, Orgovyx makes sense.

i started taking Orgovyx when I ended my “holiday”. Previously I had been on Lupron and Zytiga.

I’m taking Orgovyx for 2 reasons. When I take another holiday, the hormone therapy gets out of your system much faster, as Tall Allen suggests. It is also supposedly easier on the heart. I have had some heart issues related to my radiation treatment to my spine.

It works very well. I took Orgovyx and Erleada together and my 3.7 PSA went back to undetectable in 1 month.

As for cost, I’m on Medicare (plus a supplemental plan) and my co-pay is $50/month.

Well, a lot is happening. In the last 2 days the following has occured: Dr. Lam put through the required pre-authorization and it was approved for 1 year. Biologics called me and got the information they needed and authorized the free 30-day supply. They then connected me to their pharmacist to fill the order. It's going out overnight tomorrow, so will be here Friday. Best of all, he said subsequent copay will be ZERO.

Some thoughts: considering that I made it known that nothing happens until after I do a PSA on 12/8, they sure must have pressure to sign me up. I wonder what "the rest of the story is." Bonuses??

I meant to add: I hope I heard him right on the zero co-pay as I had to leave just at that (most?) important part. Also, I don't even no how this ZERO occured. Is it via my insurance company or some grant? Curious. This is via Biologics which includes a specialty pharmacy. But my BCBS of Michigan (Medicare Advantage PPO) has OptumRX. Strange?
