Ugh fast rise PSA

At 90 days after RALP I was persistant with .64 and only another 4 weeks later I am .9

Waiting PSMA PET but they tell me 6 to 8 weeks. Can you predict a PSA DT with only 2 lab results? Looks like to me a pretty poor prognosis. Should we add "PPP" to our list of PCa acronyms?

thank you. Yeah I'm on on the weights 3 days a week and swim and or run or bike 3 days. Just crawled out of pool. 30 up and back laps. Odd building muscle mass (use that word mass lightly) just to turn around and loose it. I call it my 401K workout plan.

Officially, you are right that you need 3 data points for PSADT, but if it continues at this pace, it is something around 2 months, which is very rapid.

Meanwhile, you can ask for a bone scan/CT. If that is positive, you will no longer need a PSMA scan. You can also start ADT+zytiga within 4 weeks before the PSMA PET scan and it may actually improve its ability to detect what is there.

Interesting. Ill message oncologist. I know before the new data it was leaning towards bicalutamide and 6 months (2 90 day injections Lupron) plus IMRT) ..may have all changed with new PSA data. Thanks again..

I wish I had started out as easily as you. Prostatectomy and 6 week later PSA up to 63 from53 pre-surgery.. Well, 5 1/2 yrs later still around and fighting.... best of luck to you.

thank you for your response. You certainly have had quite a journey. I just passed through your state of Idaho last week taking newly wed son back to Rexburg.

Short term ADT may improve the PSMA expression in CSPC. The advice of TA is a good one. Besides if there were no mets and just lymph nodes in the pelvis you will have to consider the radiotherapy plus 2 years of Lupron or similar and Zytiga.

FWIW, I’ve found my DT is much more rapid at lower PSAs, but then it starts tapering. Makes more sense for my situation to wait until the 2-3 range, and as always calculate with the last 3 measurements.

going from .64 to 9 in 4 weeks I will be in 2,3 range soon I would guess..

Every case is different, but using my own experience, I would expect about a 90-day doubling time. That would put your PSA at 2x.64=1.28 after 90 days, 2.56 after180 days, 5.12 after 270 days, 10.24 after 360 days, etc.
