Just started treatment at Moffitt in Tampa

Started taken Eligard Subq shots and Xtandi 80mg 2pill a day .About the second day got sick to my stomach and a metal taste in my mouth for about a half hour,other than that all good.

I was there as well...after 4 months on xtandi, & pain started after the 3rd month..the dr..dr zhang...said its not working, my psa kept going up...I have bone mets...he said chemo is next for me...I took 1& after 2 weeks pain got worse...stopped chemo & now I'm in Mexico doing immunotherapy

I liberally used Pepto Bismal and Tums while I was on Eligard.

I am very interested in your Moffit experience. I am not impressed with my doc at Florida Cancer Specialists in Naples and am considering Moffit. That said, I am getting SOC (Lupron, abiraterone, prednisone) for my castration sensitive cancer so until I get castration resistant it may not matter. All comments and thoughts appreciated

I’m also seeing Florida Cancer in Ft Myers. Did have a 2nd opinion from Moffitt prior to starting hormone therapy (Eligard). Moffitt said Florida cancer can do the same protocol as them and would send all recommendations to my oncologist @ Florida Cancer. Had my first 3 mo. 9 weeks ago, no major side effects as of yet. Next PSA/follow up is on 8/12. Perhaps we should stay in touch and compare notes🤷‍♂️

Really appreciate your comments and I definitely want to stay in touch. I am due for my 6th Lupron shot in mid August and hoping PSA stays at <0.64. Hot flashes have continued and the other usual side effects of muscle loss kicked in sometime after 4th shot. Still walking 5 miles a day, going to gym and continuing tennis and golf but with degraded performance. Seems pretty typical from all I read from the rest on this site. I am certainly encouraged by all the warrior stories of years on ADT.

Can you give me your Moffit docs info. I expect to be seeking a 2nd opinion there after consulting my "summer" MO in Lahey, Burlington, Mass. Like you, I expect to continue treatment at Florida Cancer Specialists but want a contact at a major center which may be more current on next steps if needed.

I saw Dr. Rohit Jain. Keep in mind that Moffitt works in a team environment based on what was shared with me. There are several medical oncologist on the team. So I don’t think it matters who you see. Of course you can review their credentials & reviews on their site. You can schedule a consultation by calling 813-745-3808. All the best, Roy
