From yesterdays CBC
Lymphocyte Absolute 0.95 x10(3) uL normal range 1.00 - 4.00 x10(3) uL
Lymphocytes = 14%
Is this concerning, if so what is the implication?
PSA = 0.01 unchanged at undetectable

My UCLA MO told me the only real concern for her was platelets. My CBC usually had low numbers for several parameters due to the long term ADT.
It's just a little low - not concerning
Thanks Allen
Mine took a much bigger hit (HIV levels) and I was at full Zytiga, Lupron and just started radiation. This may be a bit of foreshadowing but I agree with TA, nothing in itself to be concerned about. Mine has since fully recovered in #'s. The concern at the time was the hit on CD4 cells and I had a test to check those. My MO wasn't overly concerned or at least did not express it when asked.
Tell me about CD4 cells and the test, have they recovered as well?
CD4 cells, also known as T cells, are white blood cells that fight infection and play an important role in your immune system. I had read about their importance and then somebody on the forum posted about how they are the cells that maintain the memory of past infections, for lack of a better explanation.
Doubt its something you need to be concerned about at this time. They are key words in HIV diagnosis as I said mine were that low. I did not retest and my MO was never concerned about it. The count correlated closely to my absolute Lymphocytes. He said that if my low Lymphocytes were creating a issue I would have known about almost right away with increased infections. Never at the start of treatment or since have I come down with even a cold or flu that I can remember.
I also read a paper early on where low lymphocyte counts we noted during a trial for Zytiga. I am pretty sure it said all participants counts recovered, if memory serves.
What is your NLR (Neutrofils/Lymphocytes Ratio)?
<2.5 good,
2.9-3.0 borderline
>3.1 inflammation underlying
Neutrofils = 5.14 NR 1.50- 7.70Lymphocytes = .95 NR 1.00 -4.00
also shows
Neutrophils = 77.6%
Lymphocytes = 14.3%
both look to be around 5.5
Inflammation?
what does this implicate?
Patrick and Nal are the gurus in subclinical inflammation. My practical knowledge is that it goes hand in hand with cancer activity. 20 years ago my NLR was 2.0 to 2.5. Just before RP it peaked to 3.5. Now, it hovers from 2.6 to 3.1 to remind me that there is something there in action.
In the NLR review I posted 5 years ago [1], various cutoffs were used. Seems reasonable to take the most conservative ~2.5 as a target.
Men with high NLR generally do worse in various scenarios, so the NLR is viewed as a prognostic tool. But, the NLR is a measure of subclinical inflammation. As such, it can be reduced by targeting NF-kB (nuclear factor-kappaB) [2].

My # and % along with several other blood markers went down while on ADT and PBLN radiation. I felt concerned but my doctors didn't.
After completion of 2 years of ADT and the radiation. They came back to close to the low side of normal.
These days I feel that I've been left slightly affected by the treatments as I'm tired more easily usually require a nap each afternoon after activity such as bike riding or work around the house.
Also most days as well when I have no activity a sudden wave of tiredness comes over me and I must take a nap.
My WBC's are still 10% under lower limit three years after radiation/ADT, although slowly improving. RBC's are back to normal.
I had a rough day today. I’ve been on lupron and xytiga for 5 months. Testosterone and PSA have responded well. I have been fighting an infected cyst in my back for a week and I woke up today very achy with kidney/ adrenal gland pain. I’m pretty much bed bound from the pain. I went to urgent care and all of my bloodwork and urine test were normal except lymphocytes. The changed my antibiotics from Bactrim to amoxicillin and doxycycline. Acetaminophen has helped with the overall aches and pains, but my back still hurts like a mother. Any thoughts?
Lymphocyte Absolute 0.8 x10(3) uL normal range 1.00 - 4.00 x10(3) uL
Lymphocytes = 12.7%
