Good night heroes, The longer I am in this disease, the more I admire you. My father has been fighting this disease for 20 years and for me he is my warrior hero... he always will be. As I have already explained before, it has been 10 weeks since he started with Zytiga and at the beginning he had an increase in both psa and alp but now it has dropped to 15 from 25 that he had from 98 to 92 so it seems that zytiga is working well, isn't is? Now my concern is that he has had pain in his left hip for 1 month. He underwent surgery 4 years ago for a l4 and l5 disc herniation and is not doing well. He has no pain when sleeping or at rest, but when he gets up he finds it hard to start walking, and once he starts walking the pain goes away. Could it be because of the metastasis it has in the bones? In 2020, he was diagnosed with 7 metastases and 2 of them in the femur and pelvis. what do you think? For mi your opinion is very helpful. Thank you very much. I wish you the best.

PD. Sorry for my english, I use google translator.

I also had a pain in my lower back that left me stiff when I got up but went away when I walked. It disappeared when I got a new mattress. He can get a bone scan to check.

Thank you TA for being there, for me you are a great help and you are always there to guide us... my father will have a bone scan to rule out... but I would like you to tell me if you think the symptoms have to do with metastasis or not... He was very active, until the pain appeared.

No need to guess. Let's see what the bone scan says. Has he had a DEXA scan of his bone mineral density? Is he taking bone strengthening medicine?

No, he has only had 6 months of Zometa which ended in December 2020.

In general....Pain and stiffness with rest but improving with physical activity is usually due to musculoskeletal causes such as disc disease, posture problems etc.The pain caused by metastasis is continuous, dull and occurs both at rest and with activity.

Its common to suspect metastasis for any pain which might be due to other causes.

Thank you very much, I really appreciate your answers. ♥️

Assuming he has had nuclear bone scans and abdominal CT scans along the way as a basis and comparison point, a new set of scans can help identify the problem.

However, as we get older, I am 75, aches and pains appear for a number of issues - weight, arthritis, etc. in 2016, I had similar pain. My scans were negative - probably cause....... weight. Today, when I awake with lower back pain, a soak in hot water usually cures. This happens less each day as I have lost visceral fat..... I had a concern then as I previously had metastatic lesions at L2. Rear pelvic or low back pain concerned me vision visions of spinal collapse and a wheelchair....... good luck and get him tested..... it’s the only way to know.

Hello my dad had bone Mets in the same area he had pain and couldn’t walk without his cane he felt like the zytiga caused it but I think it was his age and the Mets and he wanted something to blame he also was very sedentary. U r a great son for caring for your dad.
