Has anybody had a Lupron injection + taxotere/docetaxel infusion on the same day? Were the side effects worse or the same as receiving them separately, more than a week apart? I am scheduled for a double whammy in two weeks. Considering asking to postpone the Lupron by a week.

Lupron and infusion (Taxotere/Docetaxel) on the same day?
I would schedule the infusions at least a week apart [IMHO]
I thought so too, but my MO thinks this shouldn't be a problem.
Yeah, so did mine when she wanted me to start my 1st Lupron injection and Zometa infusion on the same day. Thankfully I refused and started just the Lupron. When I started the Zometa a week later I was down for 14 days! We're all different, I just happened to be hyper-sensitive to the Zometa. If I had taken them together I might have ended up in the ER and we would not have known which one caused the problems. Remember you're in charge, follow your gut. [IMHO] 🙏
Never heard it to be a problem. Does your oncologist have experience doing that?
Not sure if she has "experience" doing that but she is the one suggesting it. The only concern I am having is that I felt considerably more tired and in general worse after my third infusion compared to the first two. Still, nausea was mild, didn't have to take meds, and upset stomach but no diarrhea. Perhaps taking them a week apart will be better after all?
Happened with me and was not a problem. I was pretty much a foot shuffling zombie for most of my chemo crash weeks never more so or less so due to combined lupron, zometa, and chemo all in one day.But we are all different so I wouldn't want you to come back and scold me if for some reason you reacted differently.
For example to this day I don't have any reaction to Zometa infusions but some brothers here have extreme side effects for a week or so after infusion.
Thank you for your input. I am more concerned about the days after the chemo/Lupron. My experience during infusion is similar to yours. Discomfort starts the next couple of days with some tierdness and mild nausea. I am just concerned it could get a lot worse when combined Lupron injection+infusion. Maybe I'll just take a chance and see what happens.
I of course dont want you to do anything based on what I say.Maybe you can press your Dr. one more time about your concern.
In the past when you had Lupron injections alone not combined with anything did you have some type of immediate reaction.
I've only had one Lupron injection so far. No immediate reaction, although I did get some hot flashes in the first couple of weeks. Some tiredness and dizziness too, but nothing major. I am more concerned about my last infusion which was by far the most difficult with long lasting, more than a week, tiredness and brain fog. Not sure if it gets worse after each infusion, or perhaps this was just a fluke.
Sounds like the normal reactions to Lupron---hot flashes and fatigue.
Unfortunately for me anyway the side effects of fatigue from chemo injections were accumulative. More fatigue after each successive injection. But still always saw improvement in the second week after infusions.
I’ve had Lupron and chemo on the same day. No problem at all. In fact I’m set for 2nd chemo next week and the Lupron falls on the same day. No concerns for me. This is my 2nd go around. First time was 6 years ago.
Side effects from docetaxel generally onset and recede relatively quickly, over the course of a week or less. Lupron is completely different, its side effects take time to develop and are cumulative. Any side effects within a few days after a Lupron injection other than possible injection site pain is almost surely psychological.
Had Lupron, Docetaxel and Zometa on the same days when they were each due. The first time was by far the hardest will all3 on the same day for the first time. Got a little easier after that….
My husband had his first injection of degarelix, which is a double dose, on the same day as his first infusion of docetaxel last year. No side effects whatsoever.
I had one occasion where the timing of my next Lupron shot fit the schedule of one of my cabazitaxel (Jevtana) infusions. No problem at all. Saved me having to take time off for yet another medical appointment.
When I did 18 months of Lupron combined with six cycles of taxotere it happened concerning. For me, it was not an issue.
I did not feel the affects of the chemotherapy for the first 2-3 days thanx to the cocktail of drugs in the pre-infusion IV, the Lupron shot was a needle in the rear with no side affects from it in the area.
I have seen some posts about the skill sets of the medical personnel injecting the shot and problems, was not the case with mine.
Maybe there's a bright side, both on the same days is one less day you have to go to your doctor's office and all that it entails...
Mine coincided once during my chemo, I didn't notice any issues.
Twice I had Lupron/Eligard on same day as Taxotere infusion. There was no problem. I would listen to your MO. That person is the real pro.
I received lupron same day as a taxotere infusion as well as during radiation therapy with no perceived additional ill effects.
Husband just finished 6 doses of Docetaxel. 2 of the treatments coincided with Lupron shot. Didnt seem to make either any worse when combined on the same day.
