Castor oil pack for urinary strictures

Tonight my husband decided to try the castor oil pack to help with PC radiation related urinary strictures. He has a suprapubic catheter. After the pack he was bleeding at the catheter insertion site. Has anyone had this experience?

Oh boy! The poor man . Castor oil ? Wow ,I haven’t heard about that . I hope it helps . A twisted urology is pure hell . I suffered myself two years of tubes and a foley . I pray that he can escape the bleeding and get to a more comfortable spot . Others with more info should answer you . Please Stay strong yourself . He needs you so . 🙏. Scott

Thanks Scott! On this site I have read of a few guys who have had great results reducing strictures with castor oil packs. Dan is willing to try anything to avoid a urostomy. He has such terrible bladder spasms with the suprapubic catheter and ends up in the ER just about every 2 weeks lately.

That is hell. N= 1 , I agree try anything. I’ve done so much crazy stuff to try to help. Tossing the spaghetti to see what sticks.? Is me. The phycological effect of this isn’t great on him either. It wears one down . There has to be a fix? Bladder spasms sounds terrible indeed.💔🙏 Scott

Hubby is 67. 8 years ago had 28 external beam radiations and brachytherapy at Southwest Oncology in Phoenix, AZ. Dr. Gordon Grado. PSA has been undetectable since then but he was over-radiated which caused severe strictures near the bladder sphincter. Has had a bit of trouble ever since but last July all hell broke loose and he has been in and out of the ER and hospital since. May 6th he has a second opinion consult with Dr.Viers at Mayo in Rochester.

This is a bit scary to me . I too did imrt 7 yrs ago in Az. and have been clear to date. It just goes to show us all the long winded nature of our mutual nemesis. It’s like in The Godfather “just when I thought I was out, they pulled me back in” . Good luck May 6th. 🙏❤️
