What a drag.
Here is an article about a side effect free chemotherapy he tried and the article was written in May of 2018. In it he says;
“It’s a moment you only know when it happens to you,” said Hurt, who was diagnosed with terminal prostate cancer that spread to the bone.
“I didn’t want to hear the word chemo out of your mouth. I had fought tooth and nail for five years to change my life so that word didn’t happen to me,” said Hurt. “Here it was and I was really upset.”
It sounds from this like he was really diagnosed in 2013 but revealed it in 2018.

Most accounts say that he was diagnosed with advanced PCa in 2018.
His son says he died of "natural causes" [1]. Nothing natural about dying at age 71 these days.
"“It is with great sadness that the Hurt family mourns the passing of William Hurt, beloved father and Oscar winning actor, on March 13, 2022, one week before his 72nd birthday,” his son wrote. “He died peacefully, among family, of natural causes. The family requests privacy at this time.”

I see May 2018 referred to as his diagnosis date in posts today about his death, but since the article about the side effect free chemo was written in May 2018 it looks like he must have been diagnosed before that. He says "five years" he tried to avoid chemo so surely his dx was before May 2018. It looks like he's likely been dealing with it for longer than 4 years.
Whenever I see a report about a celebrity who either died from or was "cured" from prostate cancer my mind immediately goes to the questions, gleason score, stage at dx, treatment choices. We all know it is all over the map.
Definitely not natural to die at 71. Very sad.
Isn’t this the way of those living with years with APC ? . The heart tanks! It happened to my dad 18 months after an RP also at 71 yrs old . 😳
Dam it! I really like him . In fact in the 80 ‘s i had several people tell me that I looked just like him . Thanks ,I’ll look into this . Poor man 😩
Money and fame are not going to spare one from this beast, only luck.
May we all be lucky!
I heard the cancer went to his brain. We had somebody here that had a operation on the brain that saved his life & somebody that also lost the fight recently.
Anyone know what SEF Chemo really is?
He was on fire in the 80’s . Similar head and balding . History of violence is his best imho . A pure sociopath .. 😎✌️
William Hurt died over the weekend. Among his many credits is his performance in “A History of Violence”, a greatly underrated film which earned him an academy award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. Excerpts from his scenes start at around 5:20:
His family said natural causes .. my ass. the headline said pc .. poor dude ! 🙏💔
Natural versus drug overdose or suicide
Alway hate to hear another soldier has lost the war against the monster 😡🙏🙏🙏
He was diagnosed stage 4 in 2012 mercurynews.com/2022/03/14/...
Anyone can point me to information what medications exactly used in SEF Chemo?
Very interestingAny comments on the choice he made.
Did he get screwed by scam
May be our knowledgeable friends comment on his choice.
The standard drugs used for SEF chemotherapy are carboplatin with mesna as an antidote. This was banned in Canada and only available in Calif, USA.
I am so sorry. He was one of my favorite actors. Didn't know he had PCA.
