PSA check

Dear warriors, I kindly ask for an opinion from the wiser and more experienced among you regarding PSA tests: with a MCSPC, since 2.5 years on ADT and undetectable PSA how often should this be rechecked? (it has been 3 months until now but he's talking now of 6 months)

Grateful to you all for the great support this forum has provided me in this difficult journey....

It is prudent to continue with PSA check every 3 months.

+1 mine has been undetectable for >2 years and I'm still getting PSA checked every 3 months. It's no big deal to have it checked and it's good for piece of mine.

Without knowing anything about your journey to this point, it's hard to give an option. I would say have your PSA checked every 4 months. As soon as PSA becomes detectable, go to every 3 months.

Thank you all for the answers...DX 10/2019, 01/20 radiotherapy, since 07/20 PSA <0.2 or undetectable...ADT since beginning (Trelstar) working but fatigue and brain fog, despite regular exercise, getting worse. Also mildly anemic (HB=10.70). Never seen an MO, only urologist (this has to change!!). Normally PSA etc. check every 3 months but now Ur. talking of 6...Isn't that too long??

It depends. If you are recurrent after surgery or radiation, 6 months is fine. If you were originally diagnosed with mHSPC and have only had ADT, you should probably stick with 3 months.

My personal preference is quarterly; PSA and T. With the exception of my first three years which were monthly, I have been on quarterlies since 2003. MO said I could go to semi-annual. I tried once ten years ago and went back to quarterlies. She understands my “need” to have quarterly updates...... so, I see my Medical Oncologist, Cardiologist, and Ophthalmologist quarterly.

My Doctor request every 2 to 3 months according to when my follow up appointment is scheduled. 0.1 PSA 4 years now as of 02/27 . So if my Doctor says go every day I will. I have complete confidence in my medical team. ADT,Provenge only treatments. Leo
