Dear members,

I trust your knowledge more than my dad’s urologist for some reason he only takes 5 mins to evaluate my dad’s health and doesn’t even give me enough time to ask questions. My dad has been using the catheter for around a year, he tried to remove it twice but was in pain and unable to urinate completely on his own. He has a very enlarged prostate around 168 cc. Last month he had it replaced three times because of the catheter being clogged. He replaced the last one last week, was fine for a couple of days than it got clogged again. Doctor has prescribed urobel and oxybutinin since last month, my father has the catheter on and it seems he is urinating outside of the catheter . Has anyone experienced similar problems? He is scheduled for TURP next month.

Find another doctor ASAP.

I had TURP surgery. My only regret was that I waited so long to have it done. I had BPH but a 'normal' sized prostate. Your dad's prostate is very large. My brother recently had a procedure called PAE (prostatic artery embolization) for his very large prostate. hopkinsmedicine.org/health/...

Turp next month? When next month April 1 or April 30? Get a new Urologist ASAP and have him evaluate your Dad's condition and if a Turp is the answer get it done sooner than "next month".....I assume you're in Naples Florida, ask here for a reference for a GOOD urologist in your area.

Good Luck, Good Health and Good Humor.
