We need a second opinion but we have no idea where to go. Husband had PCA 10 years ago did radiation and Lupron , now it’s back they suggested SP for a chance of a cure, we did that in aug and my husband hasn’t had anything but trouble with catheters, renal failure , and now still retaining and said kidneys are not functioning. They want him back Monday at cancer hospital because of the new CT results done locally. He Had positive margins, and cancer around the bladder neck, oncologist wants to wait till urology problems get situated before doing hormones because his psa is at 0.01 as of last test after six weeks out from surgery . My husband without the catheters is going through 4 pull-ups a day and 8 pads. With the catheter he keeps getting a mineral buildup and clogged and it caused kidney failure. We live in Saint Louis and get our treatments at cancer centers of America in Zion ILL outside of Chicago. We have a local Uriolgist now that did his fellowship at Mayo he said he could get a fake sphincter in a year because he has no continence at this point, but he said he would have to go to a specialist because most surgeons wouldn’t touch doing it after radiation. Any thoughts?

My bad, I’m not familiar with it all . I just took my husband to the ER , I stepped out they are putting a catheter in now. Is starting to retain fluid and in a lot of pain. This is never ending .
Robotic I believe.
My husband Mel said thank you very much and Merry Christmas, he’s gettin a little relief from the new catheter and hoping the bring pain meds for the awful penis and bladder spasms.
I told my husband months ago when you said that, but you know some are proactive some are reactive but he’s learning .
I have poor kidney function and I was anemic (low red blood count). There is a hormone released by healthy kidneys called erythropoietin. It tells the bone marrow inside the bones to release RBC's, without it I kept getting more anemic with low energy. There is a synthetic hormone called Procrit injection that I get about every 4 weeks. My hemoglobin went from 9.6 to 12.1 and I feel much better. I also use Vitamin B12 chewable tabs 2000 IU.
That helps with energy as well. My oncologist tried giving me Iron pills, but my ferritin levels were normal (when he does a CBC I see the levels). So I have a fistula for when I need dialysis with a wonderful "thrill". My creatinin levels are going down now, so I am really lucky. Best wishes this season and remember to just keep truckin'.
