Has anyone with ischemic heart had chemo with docetaxel?

It looks like I have an ischemic heart, which was diagnosed with a nuclear perfusion test. I don't feel pain frequently and I can exercise at a moderate pace without a problem. I do occasionally feel some sharp pain in my chest. My MO wants to start me on Docetaxel in a week. Has anyone with ischemic heart had the same treatment? What are the risks?

This is the info from the FDA about docetaxel. They do not mention to exclude patients with previous heart disease.

Hi Oldie, My 78 year old husband will try Taxotere next week as well. In the information provided by Tango it said one should be on 5 mg of prednisone two times per day. Is that what your doctor told you?

Ours said only 5 mg so I was questioning that.

Not sure what do you mean by "Tango". I think prednisone is prescribed with Abiraterone, Is your husband taking Abiraterone? I am only on Lupron (hormonal) and Docetaxel (chemo).

Tango65 replied with the Taxotere information sheet. Lots to read.

5MG OR 10 MG Prednisone is often given with chemo. Either is fine especially at the start. Dr. will monitor during chemo and determine whether to increase of decrease dose.

Most likely a dose of Dexamethasone will be given the day before, day of, and day after each infusion.

What is ischemic heart disease? It's the term given to heart problems caused by narrowed heart arteries. When arteries are narrowed, less blood and oxygen reaches the heart muscle. This is also called coronary artery disease and coronary heart disease. This can ultimately lead to heart attack.

Good Luck, Good Health and Good Humor.
