No burning sensation, after final radiation treatment, my urgency to urinate did increase a bit.

But, having the radiation to reduce the tumor was absolutely worth it. Using the term, "reduce" was intentional, as of the latest treatment and diagnostic technologies, cancer is still predominately evasive to overcome...

I also had no burning during radiation and experienced reduction in cancer size---for a while--It is now growing back bigger than anytime since first chemo 5 years ago..

You do not say what was irradiated. You are posting on a site for advanced PCa patients, so I assume you mean you had radiation to metastases. If so, it can burn if the metastases are close to the surface.

I apologize for not being specificI have just finished a third of my treatments for advanced cancer( Gleason 8) with no mets

When i first started treatment, I felt a burning sensation in my perineal area. Doc thought it was irritation and suggested advil.

That worked and after 8 sessions it has stopped. After these treatments are over, I will have low dose Brachytherapy.

Just curious if any one else had these symptoms

Gleason 8 is not "advanced cancer," it is only "high risk." That means your PCa is localized, and the radiation was applied to your prostate only. You should not feel any burning from the radiation itself.

Why do you say prostate only? Usually prostate plus pelvic area for "high risk".

I wish that were true, at least for those high-risk patients with a Roach score >20, as here:

prostatecancer.news/2021/08...

But whole pelvic radiation is still considered controversial until 2027, when we will have the results of RTOG 0924:

clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show...

That is exactly what I did in my High Risk case... entire pelvic area (28 treatments) followed by 17 for just the prostate and pelvic lymph nodes....I might have high risk but I'm staying in the "Advanced" forum😉.

I did also, which is why I raised the question.

If I’m not worthy . I’ll boogie from here . There are some means spirits .. 😩

Dam! If stage#4 gl.8 isn’t advanced cancer ,then I too am on the wrong cite . What stage was your cancer Sir?

Gleason 8 in itself does not mean advanced cancer, but stage IV does. It matters because treatments are entirely different for advanced PCa.

On the 2nd day of SRT, I thought I had a burning sensation where my prostate had been. I was just being paranoid. The radiotherapy team convinced me it was just my imagination running away with me. The mind is a powerful Thang.

I had the same sensation when it pauses to focus on the prostate. I realized after a few more treatments it was imagination.

Think so, it stopped burning

I thought I felt my pelvic area getting a little warm during the first few treatments, but I think it was probably just my imagination because I didn't notice it during later treatments.

Same hereInitially, I felt it.

It has stopped

Definitely had a "warming" feeling in the region, but no "burning".

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥!

I had 8 weeks imrt . I was told max dose. I had plenty of burning as it progressed . Doing it with a foley and tubes was a bitch . Over six years and I still get a prostate burn daily . If I hold my pee too long . Imrt works long after we leave the oven . However, it helped save my life . But we all pay the piper one way or another . Good luck! ✌️
