Welcome, sorry you are in the situation that brought you to us.
Welcome, you are super active, keep it up
Welcome. I don't think it's a good idea to start Zometa before you are castration resistant or have osteoporosis on a DEXA scan. Side effects increase with time using it.
Hitem straight and seldom.....ask questions youll get good answers.....
Why are you starting Zometa if your bone density is normal?
I share your concern but have seen reports of Zometa reducing lesions to the point of remission. Hopeful but will press my oncologist
Zometa? It's a bone strengthener! If it did that I think we would hear a lot more about it. I would triple fact check that claim if I were you.
Exercise is the best for bone strength, better than any drug. But for some both is good. However, if you're 81 and your bones are good why would you? Oh right, the lesions...I find this very hard to believe.
Just my personal opinion, but had I been diagnosed with PCa at 81, I probably would have done nothing since it most likely will never do you in! Your active lifestyle plus the fact that you are "feeling great" may continue far longer than what the side effects of 'modern' medicine and therapies may bring. Your age is on your side since PCa is usually less aggressive in 'mature' men, plus our metabolism rates slow down with age which helps keep the PCa from advancing.
I had three major surgeries of which I KNOW two were total mistakes! No one knows if my RP has kept me alive, but the cancer returned and the surgery did leave me impotent and incontinent. The nephrectomy and the lymph node excision should NEVER have been done...just sayin!
I'm almost exactly same stage except I do have bone mets. Not doing Zometa. I exercise and have physical therapy. I feel really good for now. I'm 77 and just started a job working three days a week at elementary schools doing a national assessment. Get up at 5:00 am and get home at 3:30. Feel fine all day.I think staying active is good for PCa brothers and any other "old" people. 💪🙂
