Melatonin vs prolactin

Hi there,

As stipulated in the picture attached and several of Patrick's exceptionally informative posts, it is patently obvious that melatonin seems to possess anticancer activity.

This is further supported by the 3mg melatonin study which greatly improved survival amongst poor prognosis prostate cancer patients.

However, I wanted to ask everybody's opinion on melatonin's ability to elevate prolactin. It seems that doses as low as 1-5mg can elevate prolactin (see study attached below).

Does anybody have any opinions on whether they experienced a prolactin increase/psa increase from melatonin?

P.S. I am well aware that all supplements contain risks and melatonin was suggested by one of the top Integrative MDs.

Do you think a dose of 3mg could cause hormonal issues with respect to prolactin? (I am well aware that most of the benefits are derived from higher doses).

My (only) two data points seemingly support a linear relation, but more points are needed for anything tangible:

July 2020: 10 mg Melatonin daily -> 3.0 ng/ml Prolactin

January 2022: 20 mg Melatonin daily -> 5.5 ng/ml Prolactin

I have been taking Melatonin 10mg every night for last 2 years. Prolactin levels have been normal. BTW, I also take VITEX FRUIT (natures way) caps off and on to keep prolactin level low.

I think you need to monitor the time of day you take the blood sample - looks like concentrations vary considerably throughout the day

I've been taking Melatonin for years - (1/3 of my adult life).

I do at least 30 mgs before bedtime.

I see NO personal evidence that my PSA has ever been affected.

I'm undetectable again, after a recurrence that started 2 years ago.

My original Dx was 5 1/2 years ago - I've gone 'undetectable' TWICE that lasted

a total of around 3 years and counting (I'm on an ADT monotherapy).

I'm doing well and remain optimistic - I've followed the pros and cons and the debate.

It becomes a personal decision which can be monitored on an ongoing basis .....
