SBRT to 1 lymph node

Hello All , Dr.Hirsch , Illinois Cyberknife called . Next week , 3 days in a row 3 fractions of 9 grays each day . Then soon after maybe at the U of Chicago , 25 fractions of IMRT , because of travel . U of C has a cancer center a few miles from here . It is Chicago winter and dont want to travel 60 miles one way to Illinois Cyberknife .

CyberKnife missed the cancer node. Hard to believe after 35 minutes each day for five days , with the PSMA scan as a guide line, tumor still exists. I found this out when after 90 days from the last treatment my PSA almost double. So I paid for another PSMA, and the side by side comparison showed no change. So be cautious , I was led to believe it was almost perfect- not true.

Sorry to hear that . Did you have a marker implanted ( fidicual ) gold seed into the node ? Thats what I had done . Where did you have this done at ? Who was the RO ?

That was never discussed I will inquire on my first call with the Doctor that administered the Cuberknife.

Hello , my RO , Dr. Hirsch , said to implant a fidicial , gold marker . At V.A. they said not necessary . So I went with Dr. Hirsch my primary RO ,SBRT in 2016 . My marker is in and will start 3 sessions this week . Then 25 sessions of IMRT soon after .

It was the same for my husband. He's got 5 sessions in November 2020 for a met in C7 cervical bone, but PSA continued to rise and a Ga68 psma petscan in 2021 June showed that the SBRT had no result on this met. It is very disappointing.

I feel it was oversold. When I compared it to IMRT , it shows it might have been more effective. I will be more diligent in my research next go around, not sure at this time what that will be. Looking into Mayo, and Cancers Centers of America as they may have a greater sampling of patient’’s with our condition.
