👍 I agree Nal

Checking MaleCare every day to see if the cure has been found yet. Rats, not today. Maybe tomorrow.

Yes, those "game-changing" developments are coming fast. Cures, however, are not in sight.

in reply todhccpa

I know, really. I met with an MO yesterday. Basically just hormonal stuff is still all there is. Lutetium was a disappointment

I hope to hell you're on the right track, cause your diet sounds like mine. All roots, stems, peels, and leaves.

LearnAll profile image
LearnAll in reply todhccpa

Yes..dhccpa. Roots(sweet potatoes, Yams, potatoes, Ginger, Turmeric etc.)Leaves (many green leafy veggies, betel leaves, moringa leaves, Neem Leaves etc.)

Peels...My wife says I have become a monkey...because now I eat fruits like monkeys do..eating oranges with peel and seeds, Apples with Skin and Seeds, Most fruits I eat raw without discarding skin or seeds. That's how monkeys eat.

My breakfast this morning was a big glass of Starfruit juice made at home from freshly picked starfruits (carambola) from our backyard. Lets become "primitive" in our eating.

The best moments in our lives is the 10 minutes a day where we don't think about it. The rest of the day is asking questions, going over possible treatments and fighting back.

in reply toNotAlwaysSunshine

Those are a good ten minutes!😂👏🏼

What am I doing about having APCa? I simply followed the advice of my MD, Urologist, Oncologist and then Radio Oncologist. As I became better educated about APCa, I began to negotiate procedures, treatments and medications to the point where, to some extent, I was calling the shots. I asked to have my Ureter stent removed to see if I could live without one - I could and I continue to do so. I am now having intermittent Eligard shots to keep my PSA down (currently 0.02) it seems to work for me. Everyone is different and at the end of the day it's your trainset. To some extent, you get to decide where you lay your tracks. I've pretty much kept my diet the same and try to do what I use to do. But I am not the same man I use to be. APCa has refocused my priorities, and without testosterone, I'm less aggressive and competitive as I use to be. I can't do anything about it and it's better than the alternative. So I'm now learning to accept the new me. I feel I've dodged a bullet as I responded well to the treatments so far. But one day I will not and then I will have to decide whether the juice is worth the squeeze. I currently think quality over quantity is best but it's easy to say that now. So I've got my affairs in order and tidied up our finances. I've stopped working and started our retirement income streams to provide for my wife. That's about it for now, what are you doing? Keep up the fight, cheers 🥂 DD.

Living well! Present moment compares favorably to the other 2 alternatives for me.

I’m in a solid remission now, so that compares favorably to being bludgeoned with treatment as I was for 2 years.

Yes it can come back at any time, but I’m not giving up today thinking about it. I was grateful then and am now. My skills as a husband, musician, uncle, friend and teammate are at their peak.

And at the end of the day I scroll through my HealthUnlocked news feed and see what you knuckleheads are up to.

It takes one to know one of course.

Living with it, enjoying life, feel like 60 but body says 70, trying to keep the weight at 193 but up to 203, more veggies and fruit and using the treadmill weekly. How do you keep your weight down when the predisone or steroids say eat ? One thing about the stomach shelf it does hold food nicely. Happy and persporous new year.

I used steroids while I was on chemo but only then. I was wondering if you could share your thoughts as to the benefits of on going steroid use, thanks. DD 😎

I have used them for the past 5 years due to the medicine I am taking for ADT, the only effect is the weight gain you have to watch. Some form of exercise is important, I try to walk 8000 steps a day, no heavy lifting due to a hernia in the chest. It cuts the inflammation when taking the medications, in fact my one cat is on them for life due to IBD that causes inflammation.

Lance Armstrong in his book, describes the before cancer person and the after cancer person. It changes everyone in different ways. If you have an advocate fantastic. If not, you have many here that share ideas whether technical or supportive. The rest is up to you.

Best sex of my life since my 20's has been since ADT. Didn't want to let my sex life go without a fight, and we have hit it 29 out of the last 30 days. Just requires some ingenuity and planning. Can't wait until later tonight.

Volunteering. Representing on a Patient Advocate Committee for cancer clinical study reviews and as a member of the SWOG GU Committee, helping to develop and get a free web based Resistance Training Program online for everyone on ADT and volunteering with AARP to get healthcare reform to make sure Rx costs get contained and Medicare can negotiate Rx costs. APC has pissed me off....and when I get pissed....I get motivated. Best to all in 2022.

Hi Pete from St Pete, I’m Mike from St Pete. You can see a mans journey by clicking on their photo icon.

I’m age 68, stage 4 metastatic. Inoperable, and incurable. Decided to not take no for an answer and just go along w typical SOC, and take ADT until I die. Several studies out of John Hopkins, Mayo, and Memorial Sloan Kettering showed by throwing everything plus the kitchen sink Men often lived twice as long as SOC. Have turned down by 7 surgeons, 2 Radiologists, and 1 Nano Knife trial, but from that was introduced to Dr Sean McBride at MSK in NYC. He said studies have shown that Image Guided Stereo Tactic Radiation of the main Prostate Gland have shown extension of life.

I now have 3 gold seeds implanted, 2 Body Casts to restrict movement, 10 Tatoo’s (dots) which align with 10 fixed laser beams and am about to do 5 doses of SBRT/SABR of the Prostate and 3 doses of the Vertebral body for a T5 met. Every other day over 10 days.

Not curative. Just trying to extend life. As Dr Patrick Walsf, the famous Hopkins Surgeon said….whenever possible, take the prostate out. She is the Mother Ship and she sends out signals that could become mets down the road.

Best of luck to you and yours,

Mike🍀
