Life is Good..........

Life is good in spite of having small increases to my PSA. Scans are upcoming and a round if blood tests will be done. Hoping for the best.

One of my pleasures is biking our gravel roads in the Northeast Kingdom of Vt. I do a 15 mile trek as often as weather permits Being rural, its is normal to pass on the average of 3 vehicles on this trek, not counting cows, beef cattle or horses. From my home the elevation gain is about 2000 ft. and I must confess that I'm not a purist and have to resort to an E bike. There was a time when when my legs could handle this trip on mountain bike but that's not the case any longer. I wish my photos tell a better story, but you get the picture.

ctflatlander --- where does that come from seeing that you have 2000' gain??? ;0) BTW, KUDOS on your riding and great that you're E-Biking it.

I'm SW FL and yesterday's very short 33.51 miles had 30'. Typical 100 miler will be less than 100' BUT WIND can be relentless. Yesterday wind was pushing constant 12mph to 15mph with very little following. Keep on TREKING and enjoy all that beautiful landscape.

You are one tough and strong biker. Weather here is getting colder and find it uncomfortable below 55. I need a day of rest in between rides. Stay safe in Fla. As far as my elevation gain, I'm at 1500 ft and I figure my highest elevation is 2500 ft and lowest is 500ft. I was never good in math but tend to round up to the next higher number. Bob

Would be nice to ride where the ups and downs exist to challenge one's riding ability. I'm all kitted up and ready to go out for FLAT ride #2 today. Got a short and easy 35 miles in starting just after midnight this morning with a beautiful moon poking through the clouds. Temperature is approaching 80F with 99% humidity and heading for 90F so another yucky ride but still WONDERFUL!!!

Hoping for some warm days for you and make sure to enjoy when out there.

At Midnight I hope you aren’t on roads

BEST TIME to get out around here. Sidewalks are rolled up ;0) shortly after sunset and roads empty since most residents are us older pharts of 70 to 100.

Or stop and smell the liquid cow poop. I may be a bit strange but don't mind it a bit. Are you finished working on your Ford?

Beautiful, my Sunday ride was 31 miles 4124 feet of elevation, capping off 127 miles for the week. Keep it up and continue to enjoy that beautiful scenery. It would get me out the door for sure. But watch out for those cows I had 2 in front of me on the road on my Tuesday ride last week, and addicted2.... below was taken out by a different critter. That's his story to tell though.

That ride would be a dream for me. Are you on the west coast? Our highest elevations in the eastern green mountain state is 3500 ft. Last week was my best week. Two 15 mile loops and a trip to town for another 24 mile r/t.

Yes, in fact I rode down the coast last night. 50 miles but only 1665 feet elevation gain. I watched a video of a young guy (x tour rider) that did the whole state of VT north to south in one shot. I think it was 24 hrs like 320 miles. The scenery there is beautiful and somewhat similar here. We have plenty of farmland and then can also head into the mtns which I did Sat. Will you be able to ride all winter? Thats another great thing here, I only miss a couple weeks from ice at most, but I ride in rain and the 40s a good part of it. Keep it up, maybe us riders need to connect on Strava.

My 12/24 Hour Bike Sebring in 2016 was 307 miles and only 180 on the roads with the rest on the Sebring Race Track so doing all that on road is way awesome.

My 2 rides today ---

Ride #2 had 18 miles not shown so I could ride the art.

Like art work. I assume that's intentional? I am following you now.

For sure intentional. My friends call me Psycho Johnny due to extremes I've gone thru to do art and my Midnight Madness Rides of 100+ miles then showing up for the club rides of 40 to 100 more miles. What's your Strava ID?

I have studded tires for the mountain bike. Best to ride on a plowed firm road. Great traction but the cold air on my face is getting intolerable. Fat bikes are the in and the trail systems are groomed especially for them. Too much work for me, although they have E fat bikes now.

I have some of those but only used them a few times. I added the fattest tires I could find fit for riding on the sand but would not consider an actual fat bike. Seems to be ebikes for everything now. It seems to get people riding that might not anyway, but I would probably always forget to charge before. I need to get used to that with lights now and shorter days.

I can imagine it gets pretty cold there and I have to dress pretty warm to ride here when cold but have been out on my lowest temp day of 23. I have a neck gaiters with a hole to breath through if it gets cold on my face usually just the downhills though. We used to spend time in MT in winter and I tried to ride below 20 degrees and that was tough. We were there to ski so I hiked more there. They make neoprene booties for you hands that do wonders in keeping hands warm and dry if that ever becomes a issue, their called bar mitts.

Yuppers, that 150 pound wild hog that hit me didn't feel a thing and sure wish the ground was a whole lot softer when I made contact with it. ;0)

Beautiful scenery like painted portraits...... Almost as beautiful as riding the F express subway train in the underground darkness of New York City....

Keep biking and I hope you have good results in your upcoming scans and blood tests.

Good Luck, Good Health and Good Humor.
