It's back!

Just found out in a routine blood test that my PSA is 1.25. My prostate was removed over three years ago. Waiting to get in for testing to see where it takes me.

What kind of testing are you planning. And where?

Not totally sure, most likely some type of scan to see where things are, then I decide what to do or not do.

It's sort of important to start monthly or biweekly PSA testing to track the doubling rate.

It is a cheap, simple and sort of good first step.

That and a simple Medicare approved pet scan.

Parker,

I'm sorry to hear about your BCF. I too am dealing with recurrence after a failed RP that left me totally impotent and incontinent. You may be a likely candidate for the tE2 gel that I have been using for almost 4 years which is keeping my PSA in undetectable levels. When my post-op PSA reached 1.30 I made the mistake of allowing my urologist to remove 8 sacral lymph nodes which simply lowered my PSA for about 6 months at which time I began the tE2 regimen.

Check Amazon/ebay and other online sites to see if you can find this 'Oestrogel' product? If not, I can put you in contact with my daughter who is a doctor in Illinois. I occasionally send some gel to her that she sells to some of my comrades that are dealing with this nasty shit.

My best to you in this difficult battle.

Ron

Bro, I have posted numerous accounts of my history and usage of this gel on my home page. They should answer all of your questions.

Is this the same stuff as contained in the often-mentioned patches? Studies re its efficacy?? I understand that, in some form and dosage, more of a SOC in Europe??? estradiol patches? much better profile re SEs when compared to Lupron, etc? I'm looking for something that might help ease my concerns re doing ADT with radiation!!! Orgovyxx some advantages...but $400/mo if insured!!!

The tE2 gel works the same as the "Patch", only the application is a bit different. I just smear it on my lower abdomen and inner thighs every morning and before bedtime. No side effects other than little boobs! For me, it has been a 'miracle' treatment at less than $20/month! I understand why it is not available in the US...no doctor visits and no nasty $6,000 injections. I haven't been to a doctor in 4½ years.

You need ADT urgently plus doxetaxal.

There is a new PET scan machine recently approved by the FDA that can spot previously undetected areas of prostate cancer. This could help with a specific round of radiation to kill the tiny cancer areas if detected. ADT would be recommended as well.

What is imperative is you be imaged correctly before doing anything else. Just assuming the source is your prostate bed and radiating it is a mistake based on my education trying to live with this disease. PET scanning is essential. Both metabolic (such as Axumin, C11 Choline or FDG (probably worst for prostate cancer), and targeting such as PSMA PET in one of its many forms may be require along with MRI. Remember your whole body needs to be imaged as prostate cancer follows no rules. Find it and target correctly. Would, as I have in past. highly recommend investing a couple yours of your time to watch Eugene Kwon's 3 Part youtube video series on a DIY Combat Manual for Beating Prostate Cancer. I wish you well.

My situation is similar to yours. My PSA went from undetectable to 3.7 between July and October. I had a prostatectomy back in 2018. Restarted ADT in October and it’s back to undetectable.

You need a PSMA PET scan. It’s the most sensitive scan for prostate cancer. It is becoming more and more available. I had one at MD Anderson in October and have a follow up one scheduled for January.

The sensitivity of the scan is amazing. Any met lights up like a Christmas light. In my case, they found a little spot on my hip that they plan to radiate.

Hope this helps. I’d be talking to the doctor about this at your next appointment.

Best,

James
