I have had a bad few weeks....low hemoglobin caused multiple small heart attacks....after a week in the hospital I have felt terrible.
Today I got a notice (photo graph) about a new test result in. It was my PSA. It says it is 50.000. (FIFTY). Just appx ten days before this my PSA was almost 1200.00.
I have no idea what to think ....it sounds like a miracle. I'm still alive. I am to see a brain radiologist tomorrow to begin radiation of my brain where cancer has shown up. I'm confused how this could be true. Confused but Happy ......

Hi John, I have no idea what to make of it - others here probably know more - but I hope you are feeling well enough and can enjoy the potential good news? Maybe ask for another test for some confirmation?
Your PSA number is accurate. Remember one thing John, we all LOVE YOU !!!!!!
Could the cancer that produced the 1,200 psa morph into neuroendocrine cancer in three months? Yes, the scans will tell. A liquid biopsy could be good if one hasn't been done recently. It would beat waiting for new scans as it's pretty quick results.
It can be part of natural progression. Gleason pattern 5, for example, expresses less PSA/volume of cancer than pattern 4. New metastases can eventually lose PSA expression if they become less differentiated/ gain lineage plasticity. Usually cancer that has PSA over 1,000 doesn't lose PSA expression - it is the low PSA subtypes (originally diagnosed with low PSA) that more often do.
As TA said - go by the scans. PSA is a crude monitor for actual cancer progression. As cancer increases in Gleason scale - it tends to emit less PSA - other cell types are taking over.
The probability that you got any integer number in an ultrasensitive test is of the order of a tripetision on the roulette table (tree consecutive appearances of the same number). It can happen but nobody bets chasing this.
I am sorry to hear you had a rough time these last few weeks. I sincerely hope the drop in psa will contribute to making you feel better. Keep the hope and your wonderful outlook on life. ❤️❤️❤️
I’m just glad your alive whatever the reading is, I hope your enjoying being alive and that your quality of life is out numbering any other issue thrown your way.
I’m sorry to hear that you have now been experiencing small heart attacks, or heart attacks of any kind actually.
It’s great to see that you are happy about the PSA number, may your happiness continue and may your treatment for the brain tumours go well. I love your optimism and your courage, you bring enlightenment to my soul.
I’ve been looking out for a post from you and admit I was getting a little concerned for your well-being thanks for brightening my day, even though your going through such a rough time of it. I’m sure you bring your optimism and courage to all of us when your share your posts.
Look after yourself. May you and your husband and family have a very special holiday season.
What else, it's a MIRACLE ! I mean, not the PSA but yourself. I think it is better not to bother about any interpretation on PCa at this time. If a qualified medical specialist agrees to do some tests and give you some treatment either to retard the progression of your cancer or minimise the pains and the other damages caused by the cancer, by all means you may try it. Your courage is marvellous. You are special and we love you 💕.
I hope this is in fact good news cancer wise, your hemoglobin and cardiac issues are behind you, and we'll again be seeing photos of your cooking with your posts.
All I can say is get the best of what you have. Life can be a roller coaster ride at times, other times a bench at the carousel ride. Hang in there. We're rooting for you, GreatJohn.
Hi John! You’re an inspiration and a great man. Admittedly I was quite happy to read a post from you. I love reading your cancer battle stories, looking at your amazing meals, and just listening to the love you have for life. All of this has inspired me and given me courage through my own personal battle. Much love and respect, John.
Ohh John, lovely to hear from you.I've been worried since learning of your heart attacks .Great news about your PSA. Glad you are feeling better.Wishing you and your Hubbie (and Sparky) a lovely Christmas and a peaceful and hopeful New year !
As someone else wrote earlier, we love you John, keep strong as always.
John, I’m so sorry you have not been feeling well. Please take this time and hug your husband and pup and try and enjoy the Holidays!! My continued prayers….
So sorry you've had a rough time of it. It's good to hear from you. I don't often say anything but I appreciate your lovely posts. My Husband is in the middle of docetoxyl treatments (5 of 6 on the 30th). It's not quite as side effect free as we had hoped but he has good days still and that's what we appreciate. I pray you have the same and can experience God's love this holiday season.
Great to hear from you GJ. I don’t care what anybody says because no one really knows what’s going on with your PSA. I would be thrilled with it. It indeed could be a miracle. Get your radiation and let’s pray that things continue to improve. God indeed works in mysterious ways. Faith not fear. Hope you have a peaceful and happy Christmas.
That flag of h or high is a understatement. I hear once my PSA goes into the stratosfere, its not that big of a factor. At 50k the focus needs to shift to the scans or how you feel as being the important factor. All the best through the holidays
I truly believe you have more lives to touch, more arms that need to embrace you, more lessons to learn, more spirits to raise up. Keep believing in miracles, keep smiling at small rebounds, we who love you from afar will keep praying and waiting for your words.
Hang in there GJ, you are in the heat of the battle. You still have ammo, the enemy is coming at you from many angles. You are doing the best you can, and thats all you can do. Others, not as strong, would have given in long ago. You have strong desire for life. All my best to you and yours,
Is this the kind of heart attacks you have been having? Do you feel them or are they just showing up on an EKG? Also Bill now has some spots on his skull. Are yours in the bone or in the brain itself? PS - totally ignore these questions if you are feeling tired…you have been on quite a ride. Thinking about you.
