Fathers update. Bring on 2022.

Diagnosed stage 4 earlier this year with mets to spine pelvis and shoulders. Local lymph nodes also. Psa 1600

Started degarelix.

Psa down to 16 before docetaxel

Monthly hormone injections now replaced by quarterly injections

Before 5th dose of chemo Psa down to 0.3

One more dose of chemo to go and then we will have to see what the new year brings. My father is an avid motorcyclist, he wants to travel around the continent when warmer weather arrives. He did Norway and Sweden in 2019.

Thanks to everyone who has been kind enough to help answer my questions. Diagnosis was a scary period but once treatment starts it gets a little easier to deal with.

I have not posted for a while but I still regularly check this website for information and inspiration. I hope with this, I can give a little back!

Many thanks

Jordan

Consider adding abiraterone immediately to really beat it back:

We have mentioned it before but NHS will only use abiraterone as second line treatment. He isn’t too comfortable ordering from Indian pharmacies online. I suppose every decision is down to Him. Thanks for your input. I will forward that link to the oncologist. Probably to no avail.

It's an uphill battle with NICE (England). (I've read that NICE (Scotland) approved it). First, getting abiraterone (which should be a no-brainer IMO), but also getting it with docetaxel when the trials haven't even been published yet.
