In the past my MO has used 82651 and G0480. Now Medicare wants to charge me $1,000 to have the test done.

I don't get it.

Medicare doesn't charge.

They pay or don't pay.

And it's only a $100 test at either quest or LabCorp. See:

walkinlab.com/products/view...

So something is seriously wrong. Probably your own ignorance is contributing to the problem.

But as you don't have the option of changing up the patient, you need to change up the providers.

Quest and LabCorp are the two largest labs in the US. Print that page and ask them why they are charging you $1000 for a $100 test?

You need to dedicate some time to some self education as well.

Life Extension (via LabCorp) only charges $50 - less in the annual sale.

Try 82642.

82651 has been discontinued, I believe.

If you want to get your own lab work done due to pricing concerns, check out ultalabtests.com or another online reseller of lab tests. This one is a reseller of Quest Labs. You don't need a doctor's order, or need a copay for a lab draw at the doctor's office. You can visit any Quest Lab center to get your blood drawn anytime you want. For example, the test you are looking for costs about $80.00+an $8.00 blood draw fee. You receive the results online the next day and can take the report to your next doctor's appointment. Cheers!
