I am starting chemo as zytiga completely failed. Was looking at adding therapies and stumbled on this now available in Cape Town. Apparently available as treatment in the UK and some other countries.

Anyone has experience with this or is this just one of these therapies that has no scientific evidence.

Hello, we had a meeting with Dr Kenyon who is a lovely man. I sent the information to my husband's oncologist who was quite dismissive of it, however, he thought it was unlikely to do any harm. My husband will probably try this in the new year after his radiotherapy sessions are complete. I can let you know how he gets on.

Not useful in your case. PDT can be used as a focal therapy or to ablate individual tumors. Not helpful when cancer is systemic.

TA, the Conclusion said…..”All of the patients reported here showed a drop pre and post treatment with SPDT of their circulating tumour cells. This is indeed a remarkable finding.” question: wouldn’t this suggest more than just ablation of individual tumors? Thanks,

Mike

No. Circulating tumor cells come from metastases.

CTC are detected from blood tests in men with localised PCa. I had a CTC test done by this clinic

Any CTC greater than or equal to 5 per 7.5 ml is associated with metastases. It's presence suggests that the cancer is not localized

Have you had a PSMA PET scan to locate where the mets are? IMO it might be worth a try if you only have a few mets.

Further studies needed…indeed!“Conclusion

The limitations of this study are that it is observational, and therefore this supports the suggestion for further studies using this particular approach. Sono and Photodynamic Therapy warrants further investigations, a non-invasive, well tolerated, clinically effective targeted cancer treatment capable of tumour cell necrosis and both superficial in deep malignant sites. All of the patients reported here showed a drop pre and post treatment with SPDT of their circulating tumour cells. This is indeed a remarkable finding.”

I have just had those treatments done in Germany, they are for localised PCa only. klinik-st-georg.de/en/klini...
