Hi all, my Dad is currently doing a trial, Peace 111, xtandi & radium 223 with zometa. He is loosing weight, not alarmingly fast but at the point now where he needs to start putting some back on and also muscle mass. I was thinking swimming might be good as it's low impact. He had spot radiation to his shoulder but its still painful when he reachs overhead.
He did 9 rounds of chemo which ended in Feb but has some neuropathy his hands & feet which has been flaring, I know from xtandi can cause this too. His fingers can be numb and white for a good while in the mornings - any advice on this would be welcome, heat or movement?
Thank you in advance

My husband is on xofigo/radium 223 - he has lost about 20 pounds. He is trying to eat as much as possible now. He can eat what ever he wants. Breckfast is usually 3 waffels w/maple syrup, 4 slices of bacon and 2 eggs with a couple slices of toast and butter. The rest of the week is eggs, sausage, hashbrowns, and toast with butter. Lunch is sometimes fried chicken or a sandwich. Dinner is Steak or Salmon or Pasta, potatoes, bread and butter and some type of vegtable. With this crazy diet he is maintaining and not loosing weight. He's 6'2" and weighs 178 pounds. He's supposed to be walking less and working out less. His walking used to be 10 miles a day and cardio each day. His MO told him not to worry about other health issues with this diet.. just keep the weight on! You might want to try walking with hand weights or walking in the pool.
Thanks for your reply, he is does have a bit of a sweet tooth 😊 He isn't restricting food more so that he doesn't have an appetite. I got him the ensure drinks which he likes and will take daily. He lives on his own and very independent (he's only 61) so hard to keep on top of his meals. He's delighted in a way all his clothes fit now but I'm more worried about if it continues. Thanks again for ur reply x
My husband is 60 - he does not have an appetite either. It's like force feeding. He has to triple the amount of calories per day just to maintain 178 pounds.
Neuropathy treatment = prescription, 1 Neurontin/Gabapentin 600mg in the morning and 1 in the evening. P.S. You're cute........... and I'm old old old.............
