After meeting with the RO he wants to do 5-7 sessions of "multi dimentional" radiation to L2 & L3 and the pelvis area. That seems kind of long. Can I do 2-3 sessions ans stop and start chemo after a period of rest? Has any one tried that?
UPDATE 2: Spine met causing burning ... - Advanced Prostate...
UPDATE 2: Spine met causing burning leg pain and numbness
Spine can be tricky - it depends on the size of the lesions and degree of infiltration into nerve tissue.
The important thing to me is that the radiation dose is adequate to treat the problem, minimizing collateral damage and not the number of sessions, The spine and thoracic ribs are difficult to irradiate and several sessions could be the best way to go to get a correct treatment with minimal damage to adjacent structures.
Knock that shit back to hell were it belongs. Rt can help. Good luck
The SBRT to the spine should be a piece of cake. I had zero side affects to my met on L-5.

Had my irradiation yesterday. Thought it was to L3 but on report says L2 to L4 Is this leaving room for error!! Still in pain today but nothing NSAIDS cant handle. Seeing my oncologist later today, this appointment was arranged before radiotherapy was booked. Hoping for better PSA and Alk Phos results. Onwards and upwards, good luck all.
I had 50 sessions of low dose (1.5gray)to all pelvic lymph nodes back in 2015. It pays to reduce dosage per session when mets are close to other organs. No recurrence there. I had high dose SBRT to three bone mets(10gray for 3 sessions) since the mets were isolated. No recurrence there either.

I would suggest not making up your own protocol over a skilled and experienced RO for this. It is precision medical care not a casual presumption. Are you so concerned over a few extra sessions vs efficacy and safety? What else do you have to do?
The number of sessions relates to amount of radiation used (measured in gray (Gy) units) and the shape, size and location of the mets. The number of sessions itself doesn't tell you how much radiation you're getting. For example, I've had 30 gy spread over 10 sessions, and 27 gy in 3 sessions. Different mets location. Maybe ask the radiologist more questions.
