Tips for No Appetite

Hello

My husband has advanced PC since 2008. He has just stopped taking Xtandi as MO did not think it was working. While on Xtandi and since he discontinued use, he can eat very little as he feels like throwing up and says his stomach hurts at the bottom. Any tips you could give me to alleviate this problem would be greatly appreciated!!😊

Have the MO prescribe Dronabinol which helps appetite and nausea. If you live in a medical marijuanas state try some THC gummies. Good luck!

Is his MO aware of this and unable to find a way to give relief?

Is it time for monthly or 3 monthly check up--might be time for bloodwork and scans sooner than later?

Would this best be addressed by a GP? (rule out Gerd, Ulcer, etc) if MO and scans/ bloodwork don't show PC or PC treatment SE related cause?

Please, consult with his primary physician. Abdominal pain, nausea, dyspepsia etc. need to be work up, particularly is he is not taking any medicine except for the ADT.

Prior to my DX when I was already fully metastatic I had eventually lost my appetite. Began with stomach issues....thought I had some weird unexplained in literature Gerd. Once I realized I had absolutely gone into no appetite I thought possibly stomach cancer or some type of Ulcer.It was theorized that my numerous enlarged lymph's impinged on my stomach.

Prior to chemo the Lupron alone brought back my appetite quickly.

I am perfectly fine in that regard. DX about 2 years ago and no stomach issues since TX began.

Inhaling some strong bud is how I eat and advert daily nausea . Without it ,I’d have no appetite ,more nausea and less happy moods . Exercise also promotes appetite .sage tea is said to help with nausea . Good luck . I know how he feels . I’m still taking Tak -700 a failed adt drug that promotes these SE’s in me . 6 yrs

Ginger can help nausea . Even ginger ale might help him? ✌️

I went through the same thing earlier this year with daily vomiting and no appetite. I found drinking Ensure and eating yogurt at least gave me calories and I could keep it down. It’s a horrible feeling he’s having, and it’s not that he doesn’t want to eat it’s that its physically revolting. Once I was off chemo for 4 months my nausea subsided and appetitive is getting better.

After 5 years in TX and not responding to anything right now we are in the same boat. A lot of vomiting, nausea and no appetite. After giving him all kinds of meds x GERD and n/v , we found out that the only thing that works is Cannnabis. It controls all his symptoms and even helps with the pain and the anxiety of being in this chapter. Other than that , I cook what he likes, and make some shakes , custards and foods that do not have a lot of residues. Good luck.

I am taking prilosec for nausea caused by excess acid. there are many causes of nausea and many treatments but what helped me the most was a fabulous meal. i was barely able to eat, the thought of eating sickened me. i lost a bunch of weight. then we went fishing and caught a bunch of beautiful huge rainbow trout. i ate like a pig and my appetite was restored. i gained a bunch of weight i still have my appetite.

CYPROHEPTADINE( periactin)TAB 4 mg at bedtime is an safe and effective appetite stimulant some Doctors prescribe. This used to be over the counter cold and cough remedy...its inexpensive too.
