I've seen a rat study about its use as a preventative, but no clinical studies among men already diagnosed.

Yes...its a powerful antioxidant. It's also a natural senolytic which kills senescent cells (dormant cells).

So maybe??

Maybe what..take quercetin? You probably get plenty in your diet and depending on the therapy you are on at the moment I would clear it with your MO/RO first.

yes, it is very much in the "why not try, no harm done" category. I take 800mg with bromelain (to assist absorption) just after evening meal. Have been for about 5 years. Cannot say any spectacular effect evident but I do feel that taking a number of such things (see Nal's posts) over time may slow progression/resistance (synergistic effects) and slowly bring a degree of indolence to our nasty.

It's also a zinc ionophore. Zinc is cytotoxic to prostate cancer cells according to research by L A Costello. Maybe so, maybe not but cheap enough to give it a go. Combine with 50mg a day of zinc, spread if you don't want to see your breakfast again.

Life extension guys sell Senolytic activator..24 pills ....2 pills every week.....Actually this is the only product without toxicity for getting rid of senescence cells...

be from aging or from beaten up cancer cells.....do not know if it works....

Do not look for CT for every nutrition supplement.....I am my own CT...when dealing with nutrition, supplements, exercise, mental state...

As DR Marc Scholz says...try it if ok...keep going otherwise stop it....

Each human being is unique in certain way....even if all seems to have same machine components.....

It's also found in many foods. Try searching the internet for "Quercetin in foods". Here is one example of an article on it:webmd.com/diet/foods-high-i...

Promising results for quercetin. Take with green tea (not supplement) and resveratrol. There's a synergistic effect when taken together.

Quercetin is in citrus, apples, buckwheat, parsley, onions, broccoli,,and berries.

Quercetin is very poorly absorbed. Taken with bromelain and vitamin c increases absorption. Quercetin glucoside or isoquercetin from onions is the best absorbed.

Nondigestible fiber and fat help absorption too.

"In vitro and in vivo studies have verified that quercetin effectively inhibits prostate cancer via various mechanisms. Clinical trails concerning the pharmacokinetics and application of quercetin in humans have also obtained promising results. Meanwhile, epidemiologic studies have demonstrated a negative association between quercetin intake and prostate cancer incidence and have suggested a chemopreventive effect of quercetin on prostate cancer that has been exhibited in animal experiments.pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/258....

"Quercetin is a flavonoid agent detected in fruits and vegetables with anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anticancer effects. This flavonoid can suppress cell cycle transition and induce apoptosis in neoplastic cells. Therapeutic effects of quercetin have been assessed in diverse cancers including prostate cancer through the establishment of in vitro and in vivo experiments. Moreover, this agent might prevent the initiation of this type of cancer as it indirectly blocks the activity of promoters of two important genes in the pathogenesis of prostate cancer i.e. androgen receptor (AR) and prostate specific antigen (PSA). Several in vitro investigations have identified the differential influence of quercetin on normal prostate cells versus neoplastic cells, emphasizing its specific cytotoxic effects on cancerous cells. The most appreciated route of quercetin effect on prostate cancer cells is the detachment of Bax from Bcl-xL and the stimulation of caspase families. Besides, quercetin might enhance the effects of other therapeutic options against prostate cancer.

Nicely summarized 234. You don’t have anything in your profile. Surprising for someone so deeply informed. Were you here with us longer perhaps? Under another name? Anyway, thanks. Paul

I use it every day in the form of a turmeric tea, and an additional supplement.

I have been taking it for 4 years - along with some other supplements.

It hasn't cured anything IMO, but it is part of my 'arsenal' in my fighting back.

I'm doing really well - better than expected .......

The idea is to keep the PCA at bay long enough to go out in a more pleasant manner...for me that's a train. 😜
