Is anyone taking Quercetin, if so, how much per day? I think I want to start taking it. The recommended bottle dosage is 500mg twice a day.

Hi Drphil, Sorry I can’t answer your question. I’ve never heard of Quercetin before. Thanks for mentioning it, it looks like it’s worth considering. Are there any other supplements that you take?

Drphil1938 profile image

Daily 1 a day, glucosamine, coq10 and lutien

RPhil....If you eat good amount of vegetables and fruits along with black and green tea..you hardly need a supplement of Quercetin. I fulfil my Quercetin need by eating a lot of red tomatoes, red onions , red cabbage, many other vegetables and fruits every day. Also, black tea and green tea daily. I stopped Quercetin capsules 3 months ago.

Exciting news on the Quercetin front. Two Canadian Researchers have identified it as an anti infective to the new corona virus. Now trialing it with the eager interest of the Chinese.

Dr Phil,

I stopped capsules as I know that my diet (99% vegan+1% yogurt) with a lot of veggies, fruits and tea is providing me more than enough Quercetin. If you can not make drastic change towards anti cancer diet than its OK to use Capsules.

Would you share your dosage when you were on the capsules? Please🍸🍸🤠

Nal. I got the idea from your post. I do not consider your post as prescription but good information. I have read as much as I can find on Quercetin and it seems to me to be another step in this fight. I am willing to take it. The anti inflammatory side of this plus the anti fatigue possibility is more than intriguing . Thanks for the response.

My personal anti-inflammatory regimen, that I deployed upon BCR, consisted of (all as dried extract in capsules): POM whole fruit extract (of equivalent); Curcurmin; Green tea; Quercetin; Lycopene; Resveratrol; And the pharmaceuticals: Atorvastatin 80 mg and Celecoxib 400 mg.

This took my PSADT from less than 3 months down to over 18 months without any form of ADT. This was maintained for 2 years before it began to fail and I went on an ADT regimen.

This was just an anecdotal "trial of one". Your mileage may vary and I cannot say what elements did or did not contribute to the effects.

I take quercetin 500 mg twice a day and curcumin 2000 mg a day. I have been dealing with Gleason nine prostate cancer for 11 years and it is still a low-volume tumor burden combined to my lymph glands. About six of them I am currently undergoing proton therapy to try to eradicate the tumors. I am very well aware that this is uncharted territory and it is rare that metastatic disease is arrested at all but that’s my story :-)

That sounds great, at age 81, I probably dont need 11 yrs. but a few more with good quality will be appreciated. Thanks for the Info. 🍸🍸🤠

I took quercetin for a period of about 12 months on a daily basis.

Twice daily, actually - each dose was the total equivalent of 203 mg of supplementation, but the ingredients are extracts and complementary extras (hop extract @ 120mg, DIM @ 108 mg, choline @ 27mg, and calcium glucanate @ 150 mg)

I took quercetin because third party blood tests documented that quercetin had a positive effect (anti-cancer) on MY particular type of cancer (apoptosis - effective around 30% of cellular types).

The brand name is 'Pro-Estro Support' - available in Canada - not sure about elsewhere.

My current state of PCa is somewhat unknown, but likely fairly positive. I might be in remission - currently on an ADT holiday - watching and waiting.

I don't recall any negative side effects.

Hopefully, it will assist in combating the disease.

Quercetin! For those of you who are hoping that diet or a combination of supplements that don't have quercetin in them but that quercetin will be found in some of the supplements you take, here is a chart with the quercetin content of foods. If your supplements are derived from certain foods you may see just how little or much quercetin is in the foods used to formulate the supplements. The chart will give you an idea of just how quercetin you are getting.

Please all of you who posted here. except for learnable. If you eat a proper food diet, exercise, refrain from doing things that are harmful to your body, then there is NO need to take supplements as some on this site, who make a living from prescribing supplements are prescribing or swearing by.

I say this for several reasons:

1, First, you should never take any drug, supplement or anything else until and unless you know by scientific testing, what impact this could have on you.

2. Secondly, and where the alternative snake oil salesmen cannot answer because they are all smoke and mirrors is;

HOW MUCH DO YOU TAKE

FOR HOW LONG DO YOU TAKE IT

AND WHEN SHOULD YOU STOP TAKING IT.

Unless and until you can answer the above 3 very important questions, you should NEVER take anything into your body, in particular when you are already fighting the most serious of illnesses, and are already overloading your body's ability to respond to the war inside.

If you are guessing, as per these false prophets , then you are potentially doing a great harm to your body and life expectancy and having no benefits.

For this liars can show no data to support their wild claims, because there they do not exist, except in some fake school of nonsense.

This is the year 2020, we are beyond being suckered into these type of proof characters who prey on the innocent.

You talk a load of Hog wash, all food has lost most of the minerals & vitamins due to chemicals being sprayed on the land & pesticides especially from Monsanto, birds 🦅 🕷 insects species are dying 3 times faster today than they did 10 years ago & the knock on effect is bringing death & disease to the human race, for gods sake get a life, wake up & talk some sense.

billyboy3 profile image
billyboy3 in reply todaleboy3

Where do you think most of the supplements on today's market come from dale, some nice clean facility with no contamination and the chemical compounds all made in sterile conditions? A joke if you did not get it, as most are made in China, and that speaks volumes for itself.

Sadly, there is point in my attempting to educate from your shell of despair and rantings of doom and gloom.

I repeat, this site is for those with advanced prostate cancer, and although many do not have long to live, we can still provide them with some direction and support. Your comments do nothing towards these objectives but in fact create further stress and misdirection. I have repeatedly asked you to stop these type of posts and the damage that you are doing to this site.

Failure to respect this site, as you have clearly demonstrated, could result in your being bared from it.

daleboy3 profile image

I’m 69 I and others on here don’t need your stupid arrogance & completely ridiculous remarks about everyone’s input on this site, you need to look at your arrogant remarks & realise there are people who want to discuss issues that matter to everyone not just yourself, this site is for open discussion & you have attacked anyone that does not follow your narrow minded attitude to clinical guidelines that have caused thousands of deaths as no cancer is being treated with all available drugs & research available, the doctors have made rules about how they will treat cancer & it’s narrow minded like you, Cancer no matter where it hits the body does not always respond to treatments available today, that’s why everyone needs encouragement not punishment from a narrow minded blinkered person like you.

billyboy3 profile image
billyboy3 in reply todaleboy3

Once again, you throw out another load of manure. I only complain about guys like you who spout nothing but unsupportable BS.

YOU stated that NO cancer is being treated with all available drugs, which is total nonsense and shows how little you know. It is further in insult to the many great doctors, researchers and staff who do so much for all of us advanced prostate cancer guys.

You do NOT encourage people by lying or misleading them Dale, nor throwing out various supplements etc. that have NO proven results to assist in the treatment of advanced prostate cancer-and again that is what this site is for.

What you are doing, is fear mongering, spreading false cures or treatments and creating anxiety and stress for those in need. YOU are also endangering the lives of those who may delay real treatment to try one of the kitchen counter adhoc things that you throw out in your posts.

Until you can proven some medically proven results, you are just trash talking and as Joe said, I would take you out to the wood pile and teach you some manners and respect, for you lack both.

For the record, if it works, I am in support of it, but it has to be proven to work, not some heresay, back alley bs.

daleboy3 profile image
daleboy3 in reply tobillyboy3

Your so-called Clinical trials for cancer are not being released & the FDA are doing nothing about it, so maybe your friends doing Clinical trials can explain why for the last two years they’ve failed to issue your holly grail Clinical trial research information & unless you can get the latest information don’t bother replying to me again as you are a hypocrite with regard to latest Clinical trial Data to back it up. Ask yourself why are they hiding clinical trials for the last 2 years ????

I for one am tired of the militant attitude some posters take to things they disagree with.

We are all adults and have personal responsibility.

I don’t need someone to decide for me what I can and cannot read and disseminate for myself.

You (who will not be named) are not the champion of all prostate cancer patients because you have an opinion that differs from many others.

Your arrogance is exhausting.

This is NOT intended for the original poster.

Dale, I am no longer connected into the research facilities that I had been associated with, so cannot answer that VERY important question now, but to support the fact of if they are required to have done this, then it should be done. I think we need more information and then answers so that we understand what is happening, as we are involved, obviously, with our lives on the line.

I would ask that others who may be able to shed light on this, to come forward and provide any information etc. to this serious issue. Thanks Bill
