UK Bone Specific Alkaline Phosphatase Test

Good evening, does anybody know where is best to receive a Bone Specific Alkaline Phosphatase test in the UK at all? Cheers!

Do you have an oncologist for your cancer ? Are you on Lupron ? If yes then your Oncologist will arrange one for you every 3 months.We are in the UK and this is standard practice. My Husband just goes to his GP every 3months and gets a full blood test done , and ALP is part of it.

The blood forms can be obtained from your GP or OC

Thanks for that! I did not know this, I will ask my father to obtain these then. I was under the illusion that ALP and bone specific ALP are different? Is this not the case do you know? Thanks again! 🙏

It is normally be part of your standard 3 monthly blood tests here in the UK, you may have to ask for the results though as they don’t like to burden you with dozens of routine test results they would then have to explain.

I've been having monthly blood tests here in the UK for the past year. They've included ALP but not bone specific ALP. Do you have to request the latter?

I think they are the same, ALP is an indicator that prompts further investigation as in theory it could have other causes but in our case it is usually bone metastasis.

Thanks Mick, I was the same as curehunter, I thought they differed slightly from past posts I may have read on here?
