I have received that kind of treatment four times using RapidArc radiation at various targets, spread over ten years. First two targets were lymph nodes, last two were bone mets (spine, hip). All four has worked really well for me, keeping the cancer load low, especially because its been combined with systemic treatments like Zytiga and PSMA Lutetium.

Hi David - EBRT to what, exactly? prostate? pelvic lymph nodes? bone metastases? How many metastases do you have and where are they? What kind of scan found them?

Metastatic disease typically involves a systemic therapy and not whack a mole spot application. Not that I agree with this, I feel as a personal opinion that for low burden, (Oligometastatic) recurrence, there may be benefit to the whack a mole idea.

Problem really is that when metastatic disease is present, the PCa has already taken on an agressive characteristic, and what you see isn't everything that's going on. So patient specific diagnosis and positive identification of just a few spots I think can be successful. Therein lay the issue, accurate imaging and diagnosis! Further kicker is I think for newly diagnosed metastatic patients, if those spots can be identified and targeted, and systemic therapy applied afterward, there'd be benefit to the patient. But hey, who am I? That's a completely anecdotal and personal opinion unassociated with any scientific research.

Danish-Patient, that's awesome and encouraging!

Best Regards

I have had two courses of the external beam (tomotherapy) in 2018 and 2020 for oligometastatic (lymph node metastases) initial treatment was in 2000 with seed implants and external beam (3-d conformal). Fatigue and loss of appetite main side effects. No systemic treatments at this point.

I saw a RO give a presentation a few years back and I thought that by now it would be standard practice, but as things go I have not needed it. I've been on Lupron and then Eligard and now Orgovyx plus Xtandi. But I have had tumors that have "come and gone" over my past nine years of mPc. Problem is that to see a tumor on a scan it has to be pretty big. Thus far I have managed to keep them down small enough so they can't be seen on scans. Last scan seemed to me like a lot of "maybe's" and my condition has improved since. I use some alternative home treatments in addition to adt, I use heat, magnets, and lycopenes. When pain rises at certain locations I zap it with hot showers, sometimes heating pads, sometimes other devices. Magnets like refrigerator magnets seem to help also.. And by upping my lycopene intake I tend to get to the point where I don't even know I have mPC sometimes. So is that what you mean by alternative therapies? I must add a word of caution, these alternatives require extra information so let me know if you need that.
