Hi my husband's oncologists want him to try a trial using the drug rucaparib. He will have to have a genetic test beforehand. Has anyone here been on this trial? He is on xtandi but it is failing unfortunately. Appreciate any responses x

You don't need a clinical trial to get rucaparib (Rubraca) anymore. It was approved by the FDA in May 2020 for anyone with PCa who has a BRCA mutation who is metastatic, castration-resistant, and has tried chemo.

Hi TADo you know if it's approved in Europe? It's been put to us as a trial?

I don't know. The UK and Europe usually follow the FDA's lead in approving medicines. But sometimes agencies (like NICE in the UK) will not approve medicines for insurance coverage even when they are approved as effective.

Except for LU-177 and AC-225 Germany ,India and Israel. Why not in the US?

Because the VISION trial is still active - no published results yet. Other countries allow use of drugs that haven't been proven to be safe and effective.

I know about FDA and University of Michigan refused to do the PSMA scan after they agreed to do it for $5000 because I still have a prostate. My story. German doctor said the US most likely will be five years before AC-225 is used. I just seem to think there is a red herring here.

UofMich is not allowed to use it on men who do not fall within the specs of their clinical trial. If the clinical trial was only for post-prostatectomy men, then that is the only group on whom they are legally allowed to use it.

Ac-225-PSMA has never been tested in a large randomized clinical trial, so it cannot be FDA approved before that.

I was only trying to get the scan that the University of Heidelberg wanted to see if I was a candidate for LU-177 and AC-225. If I went without the test and was not a good candidate I would have gone to Germany for nothing. I was able to convince them to come being I was unable to get the test in the US. This goes back to march 2019. When in Germany they showed the locations for the test. Two were in Michigan an hour from my house.Dr. Haberkorn head of the radiology at the University of Heidelberg stated " we will melt your cancer like butter in the hot sun". So far PSA is 0.1.

I have so far beat the demon as I was determined as terminal by urologist and oncologist.

You could also discuss olaparib with your doctor. Chemo is not mentioned for that drug but xtandi is.

The FDA granted approval to rucaparib (Rubraca) tablets for the treatment of adult patients with a deleterious BRCA mutation (germline and/or somatic)-associated mCRPC who have been treated with androgen receptor-directed therapy and a taxane-based chemotherapy, Clovis Oncology announced. Four days later, AstraZeneca and Merck announced that the agency approved olaparib (Lynparza) for the treatment of adult patients with deleterious or suspected deleterious germline or somatic homologous recombination repair (HRR) gene-mutated mCRPC who have progressed following prior treatment with enzalutamide (Xtandi) or abiraterone (Zytiga).

Hi Omc64I'm on the Triton3 trial and have been on Rucaparib for 2 weeks. My PSA has gone down from 16 to 8.8 in that time. Where are you located?

Hi CurehunterLocated in lovely Ireland. Your psa has dropped that much in just 2 weeks..T hats amazing. My husband is very negative about this trial. He thinks we are now on the last rounds of treatments if you understand me. We are going to see our oncologist on Thursday to discuss it.

Thank you for your reply x
